which then could be writers block. He believes he is running out of ideas and things to say. The group feels that they are having a hard time thinking of new lyrics. They have left an impression. A good one, and said what they wanted to say. The come back and sing to me part could be him or the group listening to their cd's later on in the future looking bak on all he/they accomplished in life. |

I totally agree with you WafeMeMyfriend... I think it is spiritual but it could also be about the bands retirement. Supposedly they are planning on quitting the band. Which makes me want to start a riot. COLDPLAY IS MY LIFE...musically... which..music effects ever aspect of my life... so i would pretty much say, coldplay is my life. |

to me this song sounds like its written by a best friend. the best friend likes the guy who she is friends with but never will be able to have him so she settles for second best, a friendship. As friends they can talk about their problems with relationships. That way the best friend knows how to please her friend if they ever become more than just friends. does that make sense to anybody? just wondering if im the only one...lol |

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!! 1000000000000000000% This song is about a person's realization that they can not change to be what the other person wanted, no matter how hard they try to be that someone else...that their partner wanted. The person finds it easier to "break and laugh it off" than go through the gut wrenching changes that could have made for the type of relationship that they both envisioned in the beginning. (I'm referring to changes like too much drinking, too much flirting, lack of emotionally connecting...stuff like that). This person decides that he/she knows that this is how they are and they are not ready yet to move to a deeper level of love, it would be too much personal change for the one who has decided to "break" and take the easy way out...and not work on his/her problems that are disturbing to the relationship. when i hear or read the words to this song it makes me think about my life.. do you want to stand out and be different or do you want to be just like everyone else? By letting go of the truth... means you must be afraid to express your own feelings about something thats important.. you dont want your emotions played with so you hide them and let them go... OR.... he's letting go of the truth.. compare that to letting an animal go bak in the wild.. he's letting it out... letting out the truth... he's not going to lie.... Now its only a game... i think he is not talking about himself per say... he's talking about the mass amounts of people who follow each others footsteps day after day.. with out even thinking about it... the followers.. Be a leader... do your own think... it can also mean...Its only a game... its not serious to you.. so therefore your emotions don't get involved.. Basically not satisfying the need of what you want or what you feel... its a perfect denial Denying that you are like every body else is hard... because sometimes you have ben going with the flow of everyone for so long you don't even realize you are doing it... & ALSO denying your emotions to something because you are afraid of getting hurt the typical problem with our relationships is that everyone wants what they cant have.. be different... learn to like what you have....learn to love.... don't be afraid of commitment to anyone or anything... that makes me thats what makes him who he is... a flake someone whose ben hurt one to many times someone who follows the crowd... He's trying to forget what ever happend even happend... he wants to wash away what happened last.. so he doesnt have to remember it he wants to hide behind an empty face become fake... or act like he has no problems shows no emotion... something happend to him to make him this way Sounds to me like he's trying to brain wash himself.. what happend hurt worse then words can explain... and he doesnt want to talk about it.. he doesnt have much to say.. running around in circles... if someone was running around in circles.. wouldnt you think they were crazy.. he's obviously trying to say. he feels like he is going crazy... nobody does anything about it but watches nobody else is willing to take the risk to be different.. they all are satisfied to watch... or..... everybody watches and thinks he's crazy.... cuz in the beginning he asks... do you want to be different... do what other people might think is crazy.. but to you its not... as long as your happy with your life thats what matters... you do what makes you happy.... while everybody else is still living this beautiful lie... |

I think he’s talking about teenage wasteland… How everything like relationships, alcohol, fake friends & drugs of ne sort how they all seem to offer a temporary happiness.. and he cant seem to find true happiness …. The happiness that he’s found doesn’t last, so by convincing himself everything’s all right… lies turn out to be beautiful. Therefore in the end its all ok, and he lowers his moral standards. He continues to live this way because it makes him happy … even though its temporary.. He can’t seem to find anything or anyone who is REAL without being fake… … basically anything he thought was real turns out to be nothing but a lie… Its like he thinks hes happy with his life… but really he’s doubting whether hes happy or not…. He tries to convince himself that its all a game… I guess in his head… So many people lie.. it’s common.. its hard to find someone who isn’t a liar. Usually stuff that is bad for you is not going to look disgusting its going to look, smell & taste sweet, delicious, amazing and beautiful… When something is usually too good to be true… better believe it’s a lie… What’s beautiful about this song is that its left open for so many people to take different meanings from it… So many people relate to it by what they think it means… |
