Yes, that is pretty close Torment. Although I believe that 3rd person you mentioned is also himself. I am feeling like this right now otherwise I don't think I would have understood... That special person brings out someone in you that is beyond what you believed yourself capable of and that other you is unleashed by the strength of your feelings for that person. So that other you gets built up and breaks down who you were and becomes who you are. |

| Covenant – Like Tears In Rain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Incase anyone was wondering whether or not it was inspired by bladerunner, during their live show yesterday they sang this song and about half way through he sang Roy Batty's famous quote :) | |

I believe the song is a look upon humanity as a whole. A judgement on the entirety of our existance. "At the end of days, at the end of time. When the Sun burns out will any of this matter. " When all of this is said and over, when some disaster eventually happens to obliterate all life on earth, will anything any human or animal has ever done have any meaning? If, for example, there existed a fish tank full of wonderful, intelligent fish who wrote all sorts of poetry and created beautiful things and had the most successful relationships. But one day, you had a party at your house and one of your friends was drunk and bumped the fish tank and it fell over, and everything inside of it was killed and destroyed. Would anything those fish had accomplished mean anything at all? What did it matter if they did all those great things if, in the end, it was for naught? I believe this song looks upon the human civilization as if it were that fish tank, and asking, if our existance was snuffed out at any time, would anything we had done really mattered? "And in retrospect I'll say we've done no wrong. Who are we to judge what is right and what has purpose for us? With designs upon ourselves to do no wrong, running wild unaware of what might come of us. " As a whole, we were just one clueless organism creating its own beliefs and flowing to the next stage of life blindly doing what we believed was right. How can there be a right or a wrong if nothing we do matters? How can anything have purpose? "Each day shall end as it begins" Nothing changes because nothing we do has meaning. "As we were forged we shall return, perhaps some day. I will remember you and wonder who we were." After billions of years after the destruction of our race, perhaps a new spark of life will ignite and a new race will inhabit this, or another, planet and they may find traces of our civilization and wonder who we were :) ---- All in all, this song is simultaneously depressing and uplifting. It helps you to detach yourself from the depths we usually live in. We think that it's so important to make sure we do what we do, but in the end we will still die, so really, it was all in vain. But in retrospect, it does help you to put that bad grade at school or that fouled up relationship in perspective, those don't really matter in the end, either. |
