c.pettyii: Yeah, I think you're on to something. ImCharming: I think it's one of the other band mates. I don't think that this song is fully a commentary on modern religion, though. I read that the concept behind this album was the idea that aliens inhabited Earth long before humans did. THUS, the prehistoric men were living peacefully until the Temple of the Sun arrived (aka an alien or human faith cult (?)) and disrupted the harmony. They sacrificed many humans to their gods under the banner of the Temple of the Sun. Then I can only imagine that other aliens or something saw this and came to Earth in a struggle for power. Then all hell broke loose... ANYWAY, I love this song. It's like an epic sci-fi movie made into a song. |

I'm pretty sure this song is about a vampire kidnapping and mating with a human female. "swing, claws, back, neck, sweeping, clutching, teeth, swinging" -- Seems like an animal attacking, probably a bat. "eternal perpetuity" -- As in, vampires live forever. "trees, sky, still of night" -- Vampires hide in the woods as bats and only come out at night. Great song, regardless. |

Pretty sure the D means DROWNING. The lyrics make it pretty clear. Like is a sarcastic/ironic love song about a relationship that clearly went very wrong. My favorite end to a Parkway Drive song at the moment: "So I'll hold that pretty face/ beneath the surface/ until your lungs hold nothing/ there'll be no forgiveness." |
