With reference to "...Chicago as a whole was anti-drugs...", come on, did you know them? I don't, but considering that the brilliant Terry Kath had his fair share of demons, (cocaine & alcohol being his pick of poisons), we can conclude that there IS a chance that this song MIGHT be a 'drug/trip-related' tune. That said, who really cares? The 'mystery' doesn't change the fact that this song will forever be a classic,
which showcases Kath's ability to fly all over a fretboard. One more thing-if we take a look at Terry's famous Telecaster, we're likely to have a 'flashback'-only Clapton's SG from the Cream era is almost as...'trippy'. R.I.P. Terry Kath. |
