this isn't a break-up song in the usual sense dylan himself claims that everyone else plays it far too slow, and alludes to the fact that its a song to make you feel better when you are leaving someone who loves you (perhaps too much "but she wanted my soul") ramblin' jack elliot plays it slow and it doesn't hold the same power, so i guess dylan is right. |
