Like all tracks on Ride the Lightning, it's how you can stop something from starting but when it starts you can't stop it. This is about how if you become a loner and don't make friends you'll end up alone. |

Like all tracks on Ride the Lightning, it's about events where you can stop it from happening but when you do it it's impossible to escape. You can stop from committing suicide, but when you start, it is impossible to stop. |

Like all tracks on Ride the Lightning, it's about how it's impossible to escape from the electric chair unless you do something about not coming. |

I have this weird idea.
Ok, so this scientist creates a drug/chemical called "Battery." A man is offered to test it, and he is at first feeling great with all the power he gets, but then realizes it's a problem, but before he can stop injecting it he loses control over it. Driven insane, he tries to kill the man and family who created this, but he virtually can not. Finally, just as he is about to be free, he commits suicide, not wanting to live after becoming that monster. |

I think it's the opposite to Mama Said. Mama Said is learning how to stand on your own two feet, but Hero of the Day is about you can't drop your birds out of the nest and not pick them up-basically, you can't just abandon your kids. |

To me, the song is about a company of assassins tormenting someone before they kill them.
P.S. Isn't one of the last lines before the final chorus in St.Anger? |

James said it was about a guy who doesn't take advantages, and wastes his life, and dubs the rest of the world "Unforgiven." |

| Metallica – Disposable Heroes Lyrics

It's like how bodies are falling on the ground, but the general says its an acceptable loss. Then, one solider has been killing, and now he can do it without a thought, without a soul. And he is trained to do it. And how you 'serve your country' when you really make the kill big, and the war more. It's like how the president deems the killers heroes, and the ones who don't kill, the ones with souls scum. And then a ruthless general literally commands them to death. And then the other solider doesn't seem to be seeing what the generals see and what he thinks is right. |
