Great song. These lyrics just relate, for me I think its about letting go of a past mistake/bad situation and realising your different now, or someone else realising. Tanlines are mainly about the fusion of those tribal like drums and beats and pop melodies, and this song works so well. The repitition, the build up. The ending is great, sometimes I think it sounds like 'Barcelona', but doubt it is. Anyone elses thoughts? |

'Ok we wrote this for a purpose...' Purpose achieved! What a bassline, hypnotizing indeed. |

I discovered this song awhile ago. I looked it up on songmeanings and read yours and lifegrdstens post about how it put into words how you felt after coming back from studying abroad. Then a few weeks later I found out I had been accepted to study abroad for a year in Canada. I have just returned a few days from my year away in Canada, and this is exactly how I'm feeling, I knew this would happen and I tried my best not to let the feelings get the best of me, but I can't help it. "Just because they cant feel it too doesnt mean you have to forget, let the feelings grow stronger and stronger..." Even though it is so difficult, this is what I must do! So I just wanted to say thank you, becaus of your posts, I thought of this song in this way and now when I'm missing my life abroad I have something to turn to for some comfort... I know you wrote this way back in 2008 so I hope it gets easier and better to adjust back to life, I really really hope so |

'You're like Bambi on ice' I didnt think I could like this band any more than I do, but after hearing this I do! The lyrics are just always something to think about, whether deep or just creative or anything else, always keeps me intrigued! |

Fantastic song! Cant stop listening to this one! I have found myself singing 'love the colour of it all' while frolicking in the snow the past few days here in Ireland! Just a lovely lovely song! Great lyrics that stick in your head! Oh wont you tell us bout those rabbits george? Waitress on rollerskates! Your the chocolate at the end of my cor-net-to! In a recent interview with the band they said: 'A song like The Great defector tries to capture that transience and constant newness of everything when you've not slept for two days' |
