@[mattm165:14083] Heya man, mad respect for facing your demons and getting better. I know that it's one of the biggest struggles life can throw at you and I hope things are still getting better for you. I love your interpretation of the song and think you're pretty much bang on, the only part I think you're missing the mark on is the chorus. I think the chorus is talking about someone who's close to you and care's about you who can see straight through your bullshit excuses and see the truth. Could also be he's talking about seeing himself truly. Either way it's a great song. |

| I am a sort of metal head. I like old fashioned heavy metal and old style rock. But then I heard AFI and I got into listening to a lot of "Emo" bands. And although I still love old bands like Judas Priest, Bon Jovi and Black Sabbath I love these new bands like MCR. Oh and by the way if any1 looks at this comment and thinks, what an old man talking about his old rock, I am freaking 14. I am in no way an Emo but I love this Music. | |

Okay I am probably very wrong in thinking this is what AFI meant to give the impression of but to me it sounds like the voice of Judas talking about Jesus to either the Virgin Mary or the wife of the devil. Let me explain by annotating the lyrics. Hey Miss Murder, can I Hey Miss Murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? (I think here he is saying that he is jealous of Jesus who is loved by the good and feared by the devil. He thinks if he makes a sacrifice like jesus then he will be Immortal and loved like him.) With just a look they shook And heavens bowed before him Simply a look can break your heart (This bit about "simply a lookcan break your heart really puts it in context. One look at Jesus and your life has been changed. Obviously the bit about "Heavens bowing before him" refers to the fact that all the angels and God revered him and would let him into heaven.) The stars that pierce the sky He left them all behind We're left to wonder why He left us all behind (This bit could be about the disciples being in the room hiding from their enemys after Jesus had left him. And they were wondering why he had left him. You surely can't fail to spot the similaritys?) Hey Miss Murder, can I Hey Miss Murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? Dreams of his crash won't pass Oh, how they all adored him Beauty will last when spiraled down (This bit is a bit shakier on my theory because although he did "Crash" not all of them adored him. Unless they refer to his admirers in the crowd who remembered him which could be because of the bit about "Beauty lasting") The stars that mystify He left them all behind And how his children cry He left us all behind (Now, the bit about his children. Not so good with the Jesus theory as jesus had no children. But if you don't take what he says literally but take it figuritivley we are all gods "Children") Hey Miss Murder, can I Hey Miss Murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life? What's the hook, the twist, within this verbose mystery? I would gladly bet my life upon it That the ghost you love, your ray of light will fizzle out Without hope We're the empty set, just flowing through, wrapped in skin Ever-searching for what we were promised Reaching for that golden ring we'd never let go But who would ever let us put our filthy hands upon it? (More of Judas speaking. He is at this point wondering if he did the wrong thing in betraying jesus and is considering the fact that he did very wrong and will not get through the gates of heaven. But Jesus promised it to him "Ever-searching for what we were promised" "Reaching for the golden ring" could be about a Halo. "But who would ever let us put our filthy hands upon it?" But he thinks he is beyond redemption because he has sinned.) Hey Miss Murder, can I Hey Miss Murder, can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life?
