| I'm surprised no one thought of this. As the song is called ashes to ashes, I believe it means from the soil is made and to the soil is returned. Therefor, the person in this song will be one with earth again and "continue to live". Metaphorically this person will still be smiling and waving through the earth itself (the ocean and mountains). | |

you know, that actually makes sense. after a while of thinking, I think you can say that "drop our good side" means money - paying. There are still lines that don't quite make sense, like "Eat is just as deep as you can fuck it So cough it up or go down And there's only one thing that separates a man..." maybe it's pay up (cough it) or we hurt you (go down). and threat lingers - "only one thing that separates a man.." |
