Within Temptation – Crucify (Tori Amos cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
This is a bit late, but it has nothing to do with God. It has everything to do with her lack of courage, and the emotions that she can't let out because she is either too afraid, or too self-conscious. The emotions are building inside her. She doesn't have a lover to let her emotions/aggressions out in that way, either ("...beneath these dirty sheets...") Bowling ball in her stomach, wanting to kick a dog that needs love, etc. She needs a release. Easter, however, tries to convince her that that's not who she is, and if she doesn't stay true to herself, she's going to be hollow (like most people are, anyway).

Marilyn Manson – If I Was Your Vampire Lyrics 17 years ago
This thread has been going for a long time, obviously because of the complexity and, well, greatness of the song. But, so far, nobody has mentioned the verse

"...And I'll eat your ashes
It's possible we're seducing your corpse"

Does he, for two lines of the song, become his lover, speaking to the vampire? Or, perhaps, she has previously mentioned becoming what he is, so that they can die together....

And yes, this song would have fit the "Twilight" movie, but I'm so glad it didn't find its way in. That movie was bad enough, and it would have killed the song for me, completely. "Max Payne", however...
