Lady GaGa – Born This Way Lyrics 14 years ago
I thought of "Beautiful" when I first heard it too. The part that sounds like Madonna to me is the section where she sings: "Oh, there ain't no other way /
Baby, I was born this way..." and the "hey hey heys" but I don't think it's a bad thing. The list of songs that sound alike is endless.

Pink – Fucking Perfect Lyrics 14 years ago
To me this song is pretty straightforward. Self-doubt can greatly hinder one's success, but self-loathing can be deadly.

I have always liked Pink, but didn't consider myself a fan until I heard this song. By the end of my first listen, I became one. It's a great emotional pick-me-up. This song did for my self-esteem what spinach did for Popeye. It's a song that anyone with a soul can relate to. She's talking about me, you, friends, family, lost loved ones...

I was having a conversation with a friend recently about artists who use the music video to enhance a song's meaning. This one came up. There are videos that feature artists in random locations, loaded with special fx, choreography etc, (a good way to promote the track, don't get me wrong) then you have videos that actually tell a story and bring the song's meaning to a new level. I think this one is a great example. When I saw the video it gave me goosebumps. I have genuine gratitude for it.

I thought the song was okay the first time I listened to it but I needed to hear it a few times to really appreciate it. It may not be groundbreaking but I'm glad she's an artist who will go out on a limb to send a positive message like this. It's a bold move to put out a socially conscious song because you run the risk of alienating some audiences. I definitely hear Madonna in it but I think it's less of a "rip off" and more of a nod to her style and influence. I love the lyric "Subway kid, rejoice your truth." :-)

(P.S- Personally, if I don't like a song/artist I simply won't waste time commenting on it. It never fails to amaze me that some people will go out of their way to trash a song and artist. If it causes you so much distress then why are you listening to it? Is the nob on your radio broken?)

Marilyn Manson – Wrapped In Plastic Lyrics 17 years ago
He said in an interview (Or maybe it's in his book) that he remembers being a kid and going to people's houses. They would have furniture covered in plastic to keep dirt out. So he asks the question "does it really keep the dirt out or does it keep the dirt in?" So based on that I interpret the song to be about the all-american picture-perfect family to have just as much, if not more to hide than anyone else.

Marilyn Manson – Great Big White World Lyrics 17 years ago
This is my all time favorite song. I can't pick a favorite lyric. I've tried. It really sets the tone for the rest of the album.
