The great thing about songs and poetry is that although the writer may have had one meaning, everyone else interprets it differently. To me, this song is about a guy who is just looking down on life and how shitty it is at the start, the neon grids of cities just kind of reminds me of like, the slums or shitty area. Then, the girl feels depressed and she tries to reach out to someone, she doesn't literally throw a party. She tries to get the attention she deserves. After being unsucessful, she goes out for a walk and closes her eyes for a second, and is hit and killed by a car (DUI). I close my eyes as the curtain draw brings us to the part I can connect to most in the song, the last verse. It is when he is at the funeral and the coffin is being shut; the end of the show. He clothes his eyes and can't help himself from crying. He thinks he hears her voice, but is let down even more, because it isn't her, and then he has to come to realize once more that she has died.. He knows he has to go on with life, and is upset without her there. He then tries to say he doesn't care, but it is evident he doesnt mean it. |
