Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics 13 years ago
I think I just got the last few lines of the song. I used to think that by saying "love is watching someone die" it was saying that love is the subject, watching a death. But really, it's saying that watching someone die is the epitome of love. Thus, by asking "who's gonna watch you die?" it's really asking who loves you.

Beck – Girl Lyrics 13 years ago
yeah I always thought it was "sun-eyed" girl. I think Beck meant for it to be ambiguous, though, but I think he meant for it to be interpreted as either sun-eyed or cyanide. Now, I will always sing it as sun-eyed, but I subconsciously think it's really cyanide, even though I won't admit it.

Silversun Pickups – Kissing Families Lyrics 15 years ago
At first I agreed with the earlier comments about how the song is about when everything is going wrong. But when I watched the video again after viewing some of these comments I realize that the song truly is about an abusive home, or at least an abusive relationship. One reason for this is because of Brain's black eye in the video but also in the video it seems that everything is going wrong in the house. When Nikki walks into the house she seems like she's mad because the people are just playing music, kind of like a mother walking in on her kids playing instead of working. But she also throws the laundry basket on the cat and rushes to join, so maybe she's representing a kid. Also there are several other things like the dresser keeps falling and how Nikki leaves the toast on the stove. Either way, it could symbolize when things go wrong or an abusive home. As for the whole Nikki and the wires scene I imagine her floating represents her trying to escape but she's caught up in the wires and she gets pulled back against her will. Also later, there is the scene with the cello and the way the shot is taken expresses the dust in the air and makes it seem like an old abandoned worn down house. In the end, Nikki ends up finally tripping on the wires and falling off of the balcony, but it turns out she's alright. Overall, I'm almost sure the video shows that the song is about a family in which the kids might screw up now and then but the parents are too harsh or abusive and it just wears down on the whole house and family.
