He is definitely saying god. there is a lot of emphasis on the o which may be why you think you are hearing joy but it is god. Why would he change it half way through? it holds no lyrical importance if he changes it. |

No this song is about anna. he is looking back on his decision to leave and he isn't at the point yet where his anger has overwhelmed him. right now he just wants her back and he is willing to win her back however possible. He can even forget what she did. As for him talking about her like he can see her i think he is imagining her. i could be wrong. |

you are right it is about his hatred for his brother and wife and he is talking about commiting suicide. he is also saying that he wishes the lord would give up on him because if you commit suicide you are damned to hell. and tying the rope around his wrist is to drown himself by tying himself to an anchor. |
