Everyone's gone to the movies now we're alone at last. I think it means that mom and pop have realized the kids are gone and now they can have some alone time. Little did they they know that their little darlings were in the grips of this filthy pervert freak. Don and Walt were quoted as saying that they would put a nice tune with an awful story to create irony. |

Also the Moonies are typically brainwashed - they are kept from outside news etc. and taught constantly. They would have little to share with such worldly people. They would probably go straight to the point and try to convert. Remember the line, "Barrytown people come from another world.". Seems to fit with these cult members better than with people of color plus was mentioned in the book by Brian Sweet, I believe. |

The Moonies carried flowers to sell hence the "I can tell by what you carry". Dogmatic folk like that must have been very frustrating to guys like Becker and Fagen. They probably hid when they saw them coming. |

Bilhuf I believe you are right about G. Gordon Liddy. The local cops and D.A.s office made a routine bust at Bard College every year. The students were asleep to the fact for some reason. G. Gordon Liddy was with the District Attorney's office before he moved on to the rest of his legal career - something to do with the Nixon Administration. |

| Steely Dan – Charlie Freak Lyrics

A great song - what musical skill on that piano Donald. This is a haunting and lovely melody. Well the friend of Charlie Freak was a day late and a dollar short with his compassion. He helped out old Charlie by taking his ring off his hands and making a great trade. In his wisdom he gave Charlie just enough for a couple of meals or something else and got himself a killing in the bargain. When he found out that Charlie died of an OD he felt guilty and all compassionate. So he throws the ring down at the dead body. His compassion - too little too late. Instead of doing something really significant for Charlie he relieves him of his valuable ring. How typical of the human mentality. "Come my friend now take my hand I'll lead you home." I'll ride in with you to the morgue. What lessons in this for us all. |
