my sister recently suffered an eating disorder and choose this song for a school project where she had to interpret it. she saw it as being about a girl with an eating disorder.this is what she wrote: 'i'll find a way, i'll be o.k' - she was trying to convince herself that she didn't have a problem 'i'm alive and i am free and you see i have control over me' - she's taking a step to try and control herself and her body. 'But will you draw the line' - when will enough be enough? when will she accept her problem? 'Turn a blind eye to all the faces that you know' - pushing away the people who are close to you 'And she said GO' - she will push away help and support 'Cause one day she found a little bit of something she used to drown' - Katie eventually makes up her mind discovering that she likes this sense of control over her body and drowns, willingly, into this feeling. When i read my sisters report on this song it made me see her condition in a whole new light. She's getting better now, thank god. |
