I think its about a married woman who has an affair with a minor? then her neighbors look down on her anyway, and then her husband leaves with her kids? |

Oh i totally agree, very cool song! And the meaning is pretty basic, traveling gypsy family, moms a prostitute, i think, and they pick up a 21yr old who seduces the girl, she gets preggers, and he leaves. Then she has a daughter who will have the same life as her probably. This song reminds me of "In the Ghetto" by Elvis, so much! i dont know why |

I personally think its about a struggling dancer, who falls in love with the narrorator, in L.A. obviously, "you'll marry a music man" I think she might have left him for some rich and famous musician, and she becomes famous. I think it means she's ignoring the ones she truly loves, when he says "turning back, she just laughs," "ballerina, you must of seen her, is because she got famous and i think "the words she knows," maybe the musician she married to become successful, just pushed her in the background, to be his back-up singer, I think she somehow dies, and the narrorator obviouslly still loved her, and is mourning her death, and hes still poor, Im not sure, thats just what I imagine. Love the song. |
