I think the first verse he's dealing with the death his girlfriend or whatever and he realizes that things could be worse... ..the second is a verse a flash back to when she first found out she was sick (lung cancer maybe?) ...and then it goes back to the presence when it says "I miss you" ...The chorus is talking about death and heaven. "'Cause if you close your eyes and listen close You can hear the chapter close And it's all rebound with better clothes If you like the way the story goes The sun still burns the shadows out And there's nothing to complain about now" "Cause if this was our destiny I'd treasure the fact And I give you what's left of me if I held back" ..Saying that he accepts what happened and now that shes gone he realizes how much she meant to him. The whole I don't need a soul thing... I think it might be a metaphor...it's said so much thoughout this song... It might have two meanings to show the healing process he has to go through after losing this person. "I don't need a soul" ..He may feel like he doesn't have anything left (not even his soul since this person meant so much to him,) "I don't need a soul to hold" ..He realizes that life still goes on even without her, he doesn't NEED her to survive. ...That's just the way I see it though. |

I think this song is comparing today with the biblical account of jacob fighting with the angel. I agree with conejita...in a way. I think this song is talking about a friend who died... Like how in the first verse it says about and have i ever told you how muchyou mean to me. They are saying they never got to tell them what they ment to them before it was too late. And it says they are gazing at eternity So its like there friend slipped away ito eternity. And then in the second verse it talks about dancing and being together so its like in her mind they are still together. An then at the end "so close your eyes but dont dream too deep" Its like saying you died but ill see you agian one day your not gone forever. "pass me some memories" I remember you and relive the moments we had together. And then "when i fall your underneath" I can still picture and feel you with me. you can only truley underdtand this song if have experinced what its like to be with God on a personal level. This is song is a perfect explaination of what its like when you are in His presence and he calms you and brings you peace of mind. Or when you are in church services where you are so drunk in the spirit that you cant even stand up...i know it sounds crazy but its ture. This song is exactly who God is... If kids would only see that side of who God is then they would never use drugs agian because they have something that is so much better. |
