| This song reminds me of the old proverb, "there is no greater enemy than the one who is unknown" i think he's worried that most of us intuitively feel that something is wrong with our world/culture, but we cant come to a consensus about what it is and whats even worse is that some deny it all together. So many walking around but they don't have that spark of light in their eyes that is the mark of one who is truly alive. never the less we are all devoted to our routine: go to work, make money, say something funny so people will like you, get laid, trample the competition, anything to fill the gaping whole inside but everything's alright isn't it? | |

I think this song isnt so much about luke warm christians and how they poison the hearts of their fellow believers. I mean I've been to retreats where I'm pretty sure 80 % of the people that were there sincerely loved god and new that when it all boils down to it, its not about a religion but a relationship with god. Still I was unmoved when they were falling around me and speaking in tongues, and I can relate to this song so much in that. Some days I burn to bridge the great devide, I'm steadfast in my convictions, but other days I feel void and easily forget how i felt the day before. That can really take a toll on a christian trying to find his or her way home. I mean its a horrible feeling to see everyone around you on fire for this being,a feeling for which you have a great thirst for as well, but instead feel a empty chest brimful with apathy. whatever evil this indifference was spawned from maybe clad in shadows in most cases. One thing is certain tho, it is a neacessary evil...... Our lords power and mercy is made perfect in weakness. thirst for truth and justice is an instrinsic part of human nature and it shows that we are made in his image. Peace be still..... |
