That's what I think too Bovine =/ The lyrics posted doesn't necessarily mean it's correct, it is interpreted by an individual on this site after all. (Although I just goggled and they all say tips. Darn!) Theme from the song can be inferred from just title alone, but I would like to add one thing. You can see the repetition of the line saying out the artist spit on or missed out on good advice. This suggests previous ignorance, but the simple fact that he is able to recognize and talk about it now shows new enlightenment. The artist has learned from his mistakes. He has matured. Now I've got a list of some friends that could use enlightening too >.> |

I agree with the above poster. The meaning of this song is pretty easy to deduce. Looking at it overall, it talks about how we are born innocent, but are warped and indoctrined by our society to focus on physical and surface level aesthetics, rather than inner beauty. Guess who's side these guys would be on in the Nature vs. Nurture debate :D |

Wrat's definition is pretty solid, but I still feel that that is oversimplifying a bit. The overall message is the success that can be achieved when you take that leap of faith and venture out of your comfort zone. However, parts of the song clearly portray a definitive contrast between the narrator and the hypothetical people still stuck on the land. It is therefore plausible that the artist is making a comparison between themselves, who have stuck their neck out, and people who have preferred to remain safe and sound within their own domain, but miss out on many experiences. Of course it could just a comparison between an infinite number of groups or individuals, but I still think it's a comparison nevertheless. Oh, and my favourite part of the song is the capricorn :P |

I have to say that after listening to this album for quite some time, this song has stuck out to be my favourite. The first part of the song obviously talks about the feeling of being lost, and being unsure of where the next destination is or even should be. The second part with the old man and the truck just screams rape, but that is besides the point. Symbolically, the artist is trying to say that when you are lost and unsure, kinda just stuck at that halfway point, it often helps to side with another, and finish the journey together. The old man in the truck also does not "have much to do today", suggesting that both he and the narrator are in the same situation, so by cooperation they can both help each other out. The chorus is relatively straightforward, talking about how he wishes he could stop his journey, but is unable to. |

It could be a story of two rural lovers that just happened to venture into the artist's head. It's plausible. It could also have more hidden meaning, to either suggest difficulties in a parental relationship, or difficulties in a romantic relationship, where the dad really becomes a synecdoche to portray a large unknown force that is approaching to, one way or another, roflstomp on the young love :P Regardless of either, the song's still fantastic. |

I agree with the weed comment :p I also agree with the suicide comment. I like this song because of the unique and catchy melody, but also because of the lyrics, and I do rather enjoy pondering upon them. One thing I would add is that he throws his troubles to other places throughout the song, suggesting maybe that he merely separates or even compartmentalizes his troubles and worries so that they do not get the best of him (and of course, this can be achieved through some marijuana.) The end talks about how if he catches fire then he'll "take [his] turn to burn burn and burn" suggesting that he maybe finally taking responsibility for all of his woes. |

This is a very good song, and props to the many rhymes for the body parts. As for actual song meaning, it seems that the artist is merely making a statement about his/her self image, or maybe even self confidence. I think it's a safe bet to say that the artist doesn't feel comfortable being as they are, and would seek to alter their image of themselves given the chance. |
