I think this song might be about the industrial revolution and how the world has become so focused on machines. The lines "Trains and sewing machines...they were here first" is a sarcastic remark saying this isn't what the world really is. Then she writes " Blood and tears...they were here first" meaning that hard work with human hands and human sacrifice is what the world really is. I feel what she's trying to get at is that we shouldn't forget that we once were a highly dependant species and now we've turn too much towards technology and have forgotten what it was like to appreciate hard work. That's just my take on it. Great song though! |

| Paramore – Where the Lines Overlap Lyrics

I think this song is about life on the road. It seems like they're saying it's bitter sweet to be gone from home, but this is what they've always wanted. " No one is as lucky as us " is saying that they feel like they're on top of the world and they're having the time of their lives. " Tracing patterns across a personal map. And making pictures where the lines overlap. " This sounds like when they're on tour they're all over the world (map) touring. While they're out on tour they're out making memories to last them a life time (pictures). Great song, but the album in general is going to take some getting used to. |

It sucks that many people get this meaning wrong. The song is about hypocrisy. Sure the song is called " The Pot " and it says stuff about being high. This song has possibly nothing to do with drugs. You've got to understand Maynard's writing style in order to get the meaning out of it. As young as I am, it's kind of bad that older people who I think would get the meaning to this don't.....Great song though. |
