Melpo Mene – I Adore You Lyrics 16 years ago
I didn't think so at first, but now thinking over certain things like what em22feb said, it does seem sort of suicidal--certain details just fit.

Also, I read that lead singer Erik Mattiasson tried to commit suicide. I'm not sure when he made the attempt, as in before or after he wrote this song, but either way it makes sense for him to write a song about suicide. If it's after, then it could be about what he was thinking when he tried, and if it was before then it could be about what he was thinking it would be like, or like a justification.

Whatever the song means, it's really beautiful with interesting creepy undertones. I love Melpo Mene.

Melpo Mene – Holes Lyrics 16 years ago
I read somewhere that the lead singer Erik Mattiasson had a mild case of Schizophrenia, so I think the lines "but what's worse / they're in my head too"
are making reference to that.

Also, it sounds like his illness affected his relationship with someone.

Really good song.

Placebo – Special Needs Lyrics 17 years ago
Well I'm kind of going off of the music video, but I think it is about two people who used to date. One of them went on to be something famous ("silver screen," "you're the one you've always dreamed," "clinch your movie deal") and the other didn't really go anywhere ("chair that has four wheels" is kind of like impaired, the person is being held back, but not literally disabled). It sounds like "special needs" is what one of them said to the other when they broke up, and it still stings them ("remember me, special needs"). Anyway, it seems like when they get older, they're both remembering the times when they were happy together when they were 19 and wishing they could go back to them, which goes along with the "making love to a memory" theme. In the music video, the two characters literally are "sleeping with ghosts."

I'm not sure if this is exactly what the band intended the song to mean, but I think that is one of the great things about Placebo's songs: they always have a general theme or feeling, but can mean something a little different to everyone, are open to interpretation.

Tokio Hotel – Reden Lyrics 17 years ago
It's the one-night-stand song! And yes, it was supposedly written about an experience Tom had. The girl who Tom had the "experience" with is so lucky - she got to be with Tom AND have a song written about her?! Life isn't fair.

Anyway, this is a great song, even if it does make me insanely jealous.
