Pretty sure this is about Mike and his wife. His downward spiral into alcohol and his constantly being gone on the road/studio seemingly caused massive pain in their lives. He says, "Cast Me Away, Save Yourself". Self-pity, or objective reasoning? |

Heard it from Mr. Knott himself in concert. Mike was at a bar in CA somewhere between shows and ended up sitting next to an inebriated elderly gentleman who started telling Mike about the local area and how he grew up there. |
