Neil Young – Albuquerque Lyrics 15 years ago
I love the song, but I can't hear "find some fried eggs and country ham" without thinking of green eggs and ham.

Rodney Crowell – Earthbound Lyrics 15 years ago
No one has commented on this great song, that is simply about living life to the fullest, getting everything you can out of every last second, good and bad.

Lucinda Williams – Drunken Angel Lyrics 15 years ago
Great song, and Blaze Foley was awesome. He was shot by his friend's son.

Townes Van Zandt – Tecumseh Valley Lyrics 15 years ago
Townes Van Zandt is a great songwriter, but no one does this song like Nanci Griffith, with a little from Arlo Guthrie.

Lady GaGa – Poker Face Lyrics 15 years ago
I've heard three songs by "Lady Gaga"; this, Bad Romance, and Telephone. They all basically sound the same. I guess that means they're "good" "pop music". I prefer Christopher Walken reading the lyrics to this.

John Prine – In Spite Of Ourselves Lyrics 15 years ago
It just means that John Prine rules.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Green River Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about home, and "barefoot girls dancing in the moonlight" is one of the best lyrics ever written.

Rush – Limelight Lyrics 17 years ago
How often does Shakespeare get quoted in rock and roll?

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:

From As You Like It

Rush – Tom Sawyer Lyrics 17 years ago
The live version from the Rush in Rio recording is amazing. I've never heard a crowd go that crazy over a song before.

Rush – Red Barchetta Lyrics 17 years ago
The band tried to contact Foster before Moving Pictures was released, but couldn't find a address, so they put "inspired by" in the liner notes. Peart and Foster finally met in 2007. Turned out they're both BMW fans, and in between tour dates, Peart, Foster and Peart's security guy took a bike ride through the backwoods of my home state, West Virginia. Unfortunately, I didn't run into them.

Rush – Here Again Lyrics 17 years ago
This is my favorite off of the first album. Geddy Lee has written some good lyrics. This and "Different Strings" off Permanent Waves are two of my favorite unsung Rush songs.

Rush – Anagram (for Mongo) Lyrics 17 years ago
I love the line "lonely things like nights I find, end finer with a friend". Similar to the line from Time Stand Still, "to pass the evening with a drink and a friend". Sometimes Peart really hits them out of the ballpark.

Rush – Time Stand Still Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm in my early forties now, and "children growing up, old friends growing older" means even more to me than it did when the Hold Your Fire LP came out in '87, when I was 21.

Rush – Losing It Lyrics 17 years ago
I still love the electric violin played by Hugh Syme.

Rush – Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear) Lyrics 17 years ago
Do you know the story of the sounds at the beginning of "Witch Hunt"? The guys were drinking outside of the studio the night before they recorded the song and came up with the chants and stuff. It was December 8th, 1980, when John Lennon was murdered. Or that's what I read. One of my all time favorites. Love that cowbell.
