Dispatch – Steeples Lyrics 13 years ago
Although I do think there is a Christian meaning to this song, I believe Gregg and others are incorrect in their interpretation. For one, Gregg's understanding of Christ's divinity only occurring when He turned twelve is misled and inconsistent with the scripture-derived doctrine that Christ is fully God and fully man (just to set that straight). Also, the focus of the song is "silent steeples," steeples not indicating the whole of Christianity and God, but the churches and institutions that claim to such beliefs. What this song sounds like is a criticism of institutionalized religion and those who claim the cause of Christ, but stay within their buildings, not sharing Christ and preaching His message as they should. I'm not sure about the others, but Braddigan is a solid believer and I've never known their music to be critical of religion or God, but piety and hypocrisy.

Braddigan – Sweet Uncertain Lyrics 16 years ago
i think this song is about him relinquishing to God and giving up control (i surrender). the sweet uncertain could be that he doesn't know exactly what he's doing or who God is, but takes solace in that very fact.
