The Beatles – I Saw Her Standing There Lyrics 15 years ago
You're listening to the beginning of what was clearly to become a revolution, socially, culturally, globally. Ian MacDonald wrote that this song was the “authentic sound of youth”. He gave it credit for kick-starting the “rock and roll rebellion” that had been lying dormant in the early ’60s... in his book "Revolution in the Head".

This was the spark, the genesis of everything they were to become. And it all happens within the first 5 seconds of the song. Listen to it, over and over, just 5 seconds. Hypnotic. There's something MORE there. Something deeper, but much brighter. Almost like religion, weaved into the SOUND itself.

Bruce Springsteen – Backstreets Lyrics 16 years ago
Its about a girl, but I like to think about it my own way. It means different things to ME then what the author intended, but hell, Springsteen should be MY biggest fan if he knew what went thorough my mind when I listen to his music! The "howling" at the end of the song is without question Springsteen's finest vocal recording. I wonder how long he had to rest between takes.

The loss of broken friendships, people left behind. Two kids growing up in Jersey. One goes to college, the other doesn't. You can pretty much imagine a wonderful world of opportunity for the college dude. What becomes of those left behind? It's a point of view that needs consideration. Backstreets is perfect.

Ever notice that the 4th track on any album/CD is really usually a "watershed" song/moment?

Bruce Springsteen – Adam Raised a Cain Lyrics 16 years ago
This is what you get when a difficult father and son relationship is told by a brilliant storyteller.

"You're born into this life paying for the sins of somebody else's past".

"Daddy worked his whole life, for nothing but the pain, now he walks these empty rooms looking for something to blame".

As for the guitar... it's really a very simple, nearly one note lead. It must be pointed out however that it is probably the most emotionally charged note, basically "spit" out of his guitar, played over and over as if lamenting the pain. There hasn't been many recorded leads like that, excepting maybe the one note lead in Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young.

Springsteen at his finest. Oh, one more thing. It's frighteningly good, maybe BETTER, live.

Michael Martin Murphy – Wildfire Lyrics 16 years ago
Further review, I might be off. Looks like the pony busts it's stall, and the girl goes into a blizzard looking for him, get's lost and dies.

Excellent interpretation Cache Kid. Only one small correction. The horse Wildfire was not spooked by something. The horse busts down his stall BECAUSE the girl dies. I think he knew she was sick, and when she doesn't come to him, he knows she has passed and breaks down the stall. But it happens AFTER she dies.
