| Evanescence – What You Want Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I'm loving this song!! Amy Lee has explained that freedom is a constant theme on the new self-titled album & this isn't any different. Amy seems to be singing about finding something beyond the pain, a way to deal and move past it. Conquering fear and living how you want to live! Also the second verse has a hint of suicide to it; like, it isn't the answer. In any way, shape or form. How there's an alternative & you can find your happiness if you do...what you, what you want!! Evanescence is BACK & I'm soooo excited! :) | |

| THANK YOU for posting the correct lyrics lol. I agree -- possibly the best on the album and if you don't like it you're CRAZY! :)) | |
| Rihanna – Russian Roulette Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Dude, I pretty much agree with you! I definitely think it's a metaphor for an abusive relationship. But I have a few tweaks to your analysis: At first I didn't realize that Rihanna is playing a game of Russian Roulette with the man she describes himself (the abusive boyfriend), not someone else he convinced her to play with. The main tweak I have for yours is this line: "And then I get a scary thought / That he's here means he's never lost." I had to go through this again in my mind. The rules of Russian Roulette are simple; you play against a person with one gun, one bullet. Each player takes a turn spinning the chamber and pulling the trigger. If nothing happens, you keep taking turns until someone gets shot by that one bullet. The person who gets shot loses the game. "Losing" in our metaphor means different things for the two different players; for the abuser it means going to jail or beat up by a father, brother type who's protecting the abused girl. For the abused girl it's literally getting killed. Instead of the bullet being each time he hits her, I think each time SHE (the abused) pulls the trigger is when he hits her because she freaks out each time she does that. When nothing happens, that means this isn't the time that she "gets shot and loses." I think each time the abuser pulls the trigger is every time the abused girl gets close to telling someone or seeking shelter and getting help or protecting herself from him. When she sings "that he's here means he's never lost" I think that scares her because it must mean he knows what he's doing since he always comes out on top. He's not in jail or beat up. Oh, and I thought you were spot on with the "I'm not leaving explanation." Plus, she keeps saying "it's too late" and "no time to think" and how things are moving quickly. I think that means she didn't even realize she got herself into a deadly Russian Roulette game until it was too late to turn back because she feels a certain way for him now and that feeling won't go away. Okay, I'm done :P lol |

| Kittie – Die My Darling Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
They're coming out with a video to this one soon. The more I listen to it, the more I think it's similar to "Witch Hunt" on Funeral For Yesterday. It's all about revenge for vicious actions, as they sing in "Cut Throat." It seems to speak to that familiar Kittie theme, the sweet revenge thing. Making people pay for the evil they've done and not letting them get away with it. In the video, they kidnap this guy and lock him in the trunk of the car -- apparently he's a pedophile or something (as you may recall there are a lot of references to pedophiles on SPiT). Speaks to Kittie's influences. It's gonna be a hilarious video! Can't wait to see it. |

| Kittie – Everything that Could have Been Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree it's about loss just like "Breathe," and I think this one could imply either the death of a loved one (friend, relative) or the departure of a significant other. I think Morgan or Mercedes (I'm never sure who writes it or if they write it together) meant it to be left open for interpretation :) | |
| Kittie – Breathe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree with sheer_cold; I think it's about a loved one who isn't with you anymore. Whether it's a dead relative or a significant other who left you. I think it's about loss in general and trying hard to work through the present; 'just breathe' and try to wait it out as best you can. Just my thoughts, hehe. | |
| Kittie – Whiskey Love Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This meaning of this song was pretty obvious to me when I listened to it a couple times. It's basically talking about a love/hate relationship with alcohol. And because of the chorus, I think it may be talking about past abuse due to alcoholism. "And I love / you for all" "All these nights / I can't remember" ------------- This is pretty simple. The more the singer/writer drinks (Morgan or Mercedes maybe?) the more bad memories she can erase. That's where the 'love' part of the relationship comes in; she loves the effect alcohol has on her. "And I hate / you for all" "All these nights / I WANT TO FORGET!" ------------- This is a little harder. But I think she's talking about abuse or horrible events due to someone being drunk on a regular. When she says, 'all these nights...I want to forget!," that implies many nights of terror. This is the HATE part of the relationship. Alcohol is the very reason she wants to get drunk and forget. I love this song! No questions about that, lol. |

| Dead By Sunrise – Too Late Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Wow Krylon, I couldn't have put it better myself! Although I think there are better tracks, this one is awesome in its own right. I think your interpretation was nail on the head too, so I don't need to add my own! Great job Chazy Chaz, lol. | |
| Dead By Sunrise – The Morning After Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I really like this one too; it's going gruesome again like "Condemned." Chester outdid himself with this "Out of Ashes" album. Even though this is just a bonus iTunes track, it still deserves props. It's actually the first one I heard and I loved it! The beat is crazy and the lyrics are haunting. Great job, Chazy Chaz! | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Let Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I can't believe no one's commented on this song yet!! It's amazing; while it's hard to rank the tracks on "Out of Ashes" this one would have to be top 5 or 6. The melody is amazing and Chester gets deep with the lyrics. I think this one might be touching on Chester's present and his divorce and stuff. Who knows! It's an awesome song anyway :) | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Into You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love this song too! It's very pretty and simple at the same time. It's in the boat with "My Suffering"; not a particularly amazing song but pretty good nonetheless. It could have something to do with Chester's PRESENT instead of the past; his divorce a few years ago and his new wife or something, haha. Still a great song. | |
| Dead By Sunrise – In The Darkness Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yeah, see I've been turning this song over and over and the more I look at it, the more it does seem like it could be deep love! I think I just get caught up in the "I wanna cut through my skin" part -- that doesn't sound positive or something dealing with love to me, lol. Plus, "what is becoming of my heart and mind" sounds like something negative too because he's QUESTIONING it; if it's positive, why question it? Who cares WHY you're feeling good in your heart and mind, soak it up!! Like in "Give Me Your Name" lol. But I keep going back to the "heart burning" thing and that definitely sounds like a strong, loving passion. "And give you control / Make me a martyr for love" totally stumps me though, haha. I see your point too! This song is on the confusing side in terms of interpretation and THAT'S why it's awesome :) |
|
| Dead By Sunrise – My Suffering Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song taps into Chester's past and his drug and alcohol addictions ("I've seen the devil in a smile / I found salvation in a vile"). It's definitely gritty enough to be talking about drugs. I love the beat too! Amazing song, amazing album. Good job Chazy Chaz! | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Walking In Circles Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love this song too! Chester tackles the hardest issues with his lyrics. It's so haunting, the chorus; I can't help my sway and circle when I listen to it! The second best on the album I think, behind "End of the World." I wonder if they'll do a whole North American tour... | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Inside Of Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is killer!! I'm loving this entire "Out of Ashes" album, really. This is just one really good example of the kick-ass-ness of this record. Somebody that reviewed it said that you should except to get a couple points off your license and a few traffic infractions when listening to this song while driving. Haha, I expect to! | |
| Dead By Sunrise – In The Darkness Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Where's the opening line? "I wanna cut through my skin / and pull you within." Anyway, I love this song! I actually think it's about the writer having an affair or cheating on a significant other and they're singing to the outside lover. "My heart burns like the sun / as our flesh becomes one" is probably sex, the moment they start doing it, lol. The heart burning is probably how wrong the infidelity feels. "My heart aches at the sight of you / trembles and quakes within sight of you / in the darkness" makes me think that. Also, "make me a martyr for love / 'til the habits abide" and "I will surrender my sin." Plus Chester sings, "what is becoming of my heart and mind?" Like he didn't make the right decision in cheating or having the affair (mind) and he's becoming callous and cold (heart). |
|
| Dead By Sunrise – Give Me Your Name Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this one is about a special woman the writer likes and is spending time with...like, intimately. Pretty obvious I guess, but hey; I can interpret if I wish! Haha, this is the worst song on the album for me and I like it a lot! Says something about Out Of Ashes!! | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Fire Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song is about someone who's lost a loved one and is contemplating their situation. Is there life after death, will I ever see you again? That person may also still be grieving the loss. But then they're answering their own questions; they're looking down upon him or her (like Chaz himself maybe, lol). I love this song to death also!! This whole album rules. | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Crawl Back In Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love this song!! Actually the entire album is on their MySpace right now. It's awesome; this could even out-do Linkin Park! Don't get me wrong, I love LP with all my heart and soul. But Dead By Sunrise definitely produced an amazing album. "Crawl Back In" is the lead track, and it screams for attention in almost every stanza. Chester's vocals return as strong as ever and the instruments by the rest of the Julien-K guys makes an incredible beat. Also, I think "craw back in" could mean crawl back in the womb...maybe, hahaha. Anyway, yay for Chester Bennington! | |
| Dead By Sunrise – Condemned Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yeah, this one is a little off too. I won't post what I think the correction is 'cause there's too many lines. Anyway, I love this song too! It's really gritty and shows Chester's gruesome side. I love the first verse and this beat is on point too. Gonna be buyin' this album from iTunes on Tuesday! Chester Bennington is GOD, by the way. | |
| Dead By Sunrise – End Of The World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
These should be close to correct: When you read the news does it make you sick? Murder, money, politics Gonna fill you up, get your bullshit fix It's the end of the world Grab your crucifix and fall to your knees And beg God please have mercy on me When you turn on the TV, what do you get? Sex, lies, scandal, violence Like the end of a gun pressed against your lips It's the end of the world Grab your crucifix and fall to your knees And beg God please have mercy on me When you can't buy gas and you can't pay rent And what you've got left is the government's No win, no future, no benefit It's the end of the world Grab your crucifix and fall to your knees And beg God please have mercy on me Coming out of the hypocrisy Coming out of the bureaucracy Coming in to lead a war They're a shame! You can ignore what you cannot see You can believe in a lie You can runaway from anything Until you open your eyes No rest for the wicked, yeah they never quit Watching, waiting for the next trick We won't be celebrating when the atom's split It's the end of the world Grab your crucifix and fall to your knees And beg God please have mercy on me Coming out of the hypocrisy Coming out of the bureaucracy Coming in to lead a war They're a shame! You can ignore what you cannot see You can believe in a lie You can runaway from anything Until you open your eyes Coming out of the hypocrisy Coming out of the bureaucracy Coming in to lead a war They're a shame! _________________________________ Your lyrics were pretty close to correct. I just wanna say, I absolutely frickin' LOVE this song! In my opinion, best song on the album. It's amazingly blunt and in your face, tackling issues that no one wants to talk about. I love all the verses and the beat is insane. If you don't like this song, you're crazy! Thanks for posting :) |

| Kittie – Paperdoll Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I was watching a YouTube video from 1999 when Kittie performed in Grand Rapids when they were first getting started. Before they start "Paperdoll," Morgan says it's about a slut. This got me to thinking: "I look at her in that paper dress / I wonder why she won't burn" "She's just a paperdoll, that's all / Just a paperdoll" --- My new revelation about Kittie's 'paper doll' concept is that it refers to a girl who's very fragile (self-esteem or otherwise). A paper doll can be ripped apart really easily. 'I wonder why she won't burn' could mean they don't understand why the slut's not broken by her destructive behavior because she's so fragile. "I dress her up, she knocks me down" --- This could mean that the writer tries to change the slut and make her see that her behavior isn't healthy, but the slut knocks her down every time and the she won't heed any warnings. "They try her on for size, she fits nice / one size fits all" --- Since Morgan claimed it was about a slut, this part should be pretty obvious. All the men keep fucking her and they all like it. "Now her soul's dead / now her body's raw / you can numb her pain" --- The slut is destroying her soul BECAUSE she's a slut and her body's raw 'cause she's been fucked so much. But you can numb her pain somehow, maybe by fucking her again or showing her you truly care. OR ~ maybe the slut has finally met her fate of being raw or used up, and because she didn't heed the warnings she's in a huge amount of pain. "Watch the blood run down her face / but don't take notice" "And watch the blood run down her arms / please don't take notice" --- Now this is where I have problems interpreting this thing, lol. The blood running definitely says to me the slut is experiencing pain, but why not take notice? Maybe that's how she became a slut in the first place; she's lacking true, healthy male affection and she wants to please as many men as possible. But again, why instruct the listener to not take notice? OR ~ maybe the writer is instructing the SLUT not to notice because she didn't heed any warnings about the danger she was putting herself in by being the way she is. In "Do You THiNK i'M a WHoRe?" Morgan sings, "Like you / warned me" (I think) and we all know that song is about a whore. "I know you have her soul / and I see it in your eyes" "She knows you have her soul / and she sees it in your eyes" --- This totally stumps me. I'm guessing it could be something along the lines of the slut losing her soul because she's lost her "virginity" so many times. Maybe she's given away so much sex that she's, in fact, given away her soul. The men that have the slut's soul probably look at her a certain way too, figuratively and literally (hence, "see it in your eyes"). "Now her soul's dead / now her body's raw / wash away her pain" --- Again, the slut is dealing with the pain of BEING a slut and she doesn't necessarily want it and it's becoming too much (hence, wash it away). OR ~ like I said before, the slut didn't heed any warnings about her destructive nature and now she's paying the price and learning the hard way. "She wants you to eat her pain, she wants you to eat her remains" --- This part is stumping me too. Maybe the slut wants someone to get rid of all of her, physically and emotionally. Remember in "RaVeN" how Morgan sings, "kill me now and burn my soul..." This implied to me that she wanted all traces of herself destroyed. Maybe it's the same thing here, I dunno, lol. "Paperdoll" is a complicated song, really. I'd love to interview Kittie someday and ask them about it, hahaha. |

| Kittie – Summer Dies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it's about looking and longing for better days (summer). The summer always comes with warmer temperatures and more outdoor activities and it's just a warmer time of the year. Winter is completely the opposite; it's cold, you have to brace yourself against it and although you can warm up with someone if no one wants to then you're on your own. I think it's just about a good, warm, happy time coming to an end but knowing that better days will come around. That's the best I got! LOL :)) |
|
| Kittie – Witch Hunt Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I FUCKING LOVE this song! It definitely has a medieval ring to it. I honestly think it's about some evil female figure in their lives that's been abusive and done them wrong and now they want to hunt her down and burn her...like a witch. "The lady is for burning now..." I love that part especially, by the way. Or it could be themselves, like seeing themselves as deserving of only being burned like a witch. I dunno, haha. |
|
| Kittie – In Winter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think it's about just the cold-hearted things in the world. Just being on your own, shouting out for help but no one's listening. It's also about being one against many...probably, hehe. By the way, when they go "the coldest winter" Morgan is singing in the background: "Couldn't hear it, could you see me?" So the whole thing goes: "The coldest winter...(couldn't hear it, could you see me?)" |
|
| Kittie – Choke Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I fucking love this song!! I definitely agree that it's about betrayal by someone older (pedophile), and I think it's about just burning hatred for that person. I always thought Fallon's opening was, "You're hidden by your good looks, your fake smile..." but hey, I could be wrong lol. By the way, for anyone confused about who's singing the song it is Fallon. Remember the "Spit In Your Eye" DVD? When they perform "CHoKe" Fallon is singing it. |
|
| Kittie – Last Goodbye Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it may be something along the lines of past demons. Like, some past abuse or something. When Morgan sings, "I've laid to rest the demons / STILL, I'D LOVE TO WATCH YOU DIE!" That could be like, they've moved on but the resentment for the abuser is still there. She's laid the demons in her mind to rest but she's still feeling resentment toward the abuser. Hehe, that's just me. | |
| Kittie – What I Always Wanted Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's true, the first lines of the song are: "OPENED UP, IT'S REVEALED! Savor this" But anyway... I think it's about having someone diagnosed with some disease or other ("opened up, it's revealed!"). Maybe someone in the past who's abused Morgan (or whoever, lol) and she's wanted dead or gone for so long and now it's finally happened that they're sick or dying. But, at the same time she isn't sure exactly how she feels about it because wishing death or harm on someone is never good karma (lol). I dunno, just thinkin'. Kittie rocks :)) |
