i dont think she is trying to change him...i think she likes the idea of this guy being a player/bad boy and wants to see it for her self. when she gets to know him she see's there isnt much there to begin with. maybe his good looking and has zero personality kinda thing. thats how ive always taken this song...i love tracy...saw here in 2000 in orlando..she blew me away. she is coming to atlanta after he european tour..cant wait

i personally think this is the greatest song ever written....and new order is the greatest band to pick up istruments. i did read in a interview that this was about drug use..benard also said he never really thought about the lyrics he writes and what they really mean. ok benard..thanks LOL

this is such a deep song..i just went through a horrible divorce and kinda adopted this song as my "theme song"...he does sound tormented..i can relate. its like being right on the edge, looking down on your life, your a step away from breaking. just dont want to come undone

i agree...why so little comments on the lush site? i adore this band. i had the band at my wedding 9 years ago learn "lovelife" they actually did a ok job of it and my wife was very surprised i did that. this song is wonderful..very sad though like alot of mikki's lyrics tend to be. i heard there was alot of rumors about mikki and emma...so im wondering if this about emma? either way she is very sad. seems the guy takes what he wants from women and toss's the rest to the side. she still loves him anyway..i guess...i misss lush

this is the first lush song i ever heard back in 1994 and its still by far my favorite. the guitars flow and Mikki's voice puts me in a trance. i miss this band. i agree with Stroaters....these two lovers {weather it was mikki and emma hypotheticaly} loved each other with so much that {im assuming} that one passes and the love will always continue...like Mikki says at the end "left it unsung, i shall leave but i'll return" those darn shoegazers..she is probably talking about a puppy or something...LOL
