Stop with the relationship crap! because that's definitely not what its about... Because i am atheist, i am inclined to agree with what the other atheists have said...Jarrex worded it well..but it doesn't quite fit in with the whole song and i think a few others took it a little too literal...but i have to admit the thing with the firefighter and the victim fits well...but again just too literal i am in agreement with the government ideas and i think the discussion with the droughts in Australia and Europe were deep raemina (for the record, i respect your beliefs) but nobody attacked you directly or addressed Christians specifically (so why did you feel it's necessary to attack people who don't believe in god?). Part of the reason that i am atheist it because of people like you...you have confirmed existence of the stereotype that i don't agree with..its not because you said you believe in god, its because you implied the reason that atheists don't believe in god is because of a lack of attention on our parts. i'm not trying to start anything...and have nothing against Christians |

I really don't think this is a love song...although some people mentioned that its tim's wife...? "And the day pressed on like crushing weights for no man does it ever wait Like memories of dying days that deafen us like hurricanes Bathed in flames we held the brand uncurled the fingers in your hand Pressed into the flesh like sand, now do you understand?" Although i could see how this part fits in with a love song, to me it really seems to be referring to the earth...the whole part "Pressed into the flesh like sand, now do you understand?!" is really powerful.... I really agree with corruptedbysound.... |

I think its definately about a third world country actually I am tempted to come back to tibet with this one as i did with the song strength to go on. if you know a thing or two about tibet, you can see how it will apply although it seems like RA does focus more on things relating directly to the US perhaps it was the fact the the US still hasn't responded enough to the suffering in Tibet. religion is also something that is extremely imporatant to the Tibetans (i am speaking generally) so the title takes me back to that...however, i am sure this is true for many other third world countries. |

i think a lot of these interpretation are valid....but to me it comes back to the title: the good left undone i don't see how it can be applied to the relationship thing as well as it can be applied to the environmental take on the meaning of this song. |

i am just putting this out there: could this be referring to TIbet? "In their wake of disarray" "you fell in place" it could be talking about the communism and how they were just put in place...through the confusion and force the tibetans were manipulated "your poor disguise that fails to fool" could be referring to China's attempt to mask what they were doing to the Tibetans just putting that out there, although i don't think it was meant to be quite that litteral? perhaps it can just be applied to that.. |
