Just found these guys on last.fm today. I think this song is about getting over a break up or getting over disappointment or something along those lines. This verse: "A rooftop crow's nest in a sea swell Oh, yes, I'm doing so well A rooftop crow's nest in a sea swell Oh, yes, I can see so well And you're nowhere to be seen And you're nowhere to be seen" The lookout seems to me to be the singer looking out at the big picture and not getting bogged down, not getting sad or upset over the person/thing who/which is no longer a part of their life. Horizons are hopeful. I think this song is quite hopeful. |

The way I interpret this song: Its about a guy whose loved one is in critical condition either from an accident or debilitating illness. At first he describes the person as strong but then the illness or event has zapped them of all their powers. He goes to a church and "calls all allies down" but the lover or friend dies. Its sad. End. |
