For me, the song is about a girl who has an anxiety disorder, and suffers from panic attacks a lot. Because when you have a problem like that, normal everyday things can be very hard to do. "And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat, and she fights for her life on the train..." could be referencing how hard things are for her to overcome. And this causes her to be isolated from the world probably, and it seems like she is lonely and feels like nobody understands. "Perhaps a letter with a dove, perhaps a stranger she could love...." The song has depressing lyrics and an upbeat rhythm, which can be happy or sad depending on your mood, as someone said earlier. I really love this song. |
