the more i think about this, the more i realize that H8 is government, not a person. and 'me' is representative of citizens H8 is the one for me it gives me all i need and helps me co-excist with the chill Governments keep us alive, give us everything we need to survive you make me sick because i adore you so i love all the dirty tricks and twisted games you play on me Bellamy hates his government, but loves the security it provides. dirty tricks/twisted games are the conspiracy theories. space dementia in your eyes peace will arise and tear us apart and make us meaningless again space dementia is realizing that governments are so powerful and destructive that individuals can change little you'll make us want to die i'd cut your name in my heart we'll destroy this world for you i know you want me to feel your pain i'd cut your name in my heart/we'll destroy this world for you is talking about the meaningless violence/suffering in the name of nationalism. i think feel your pain is about governments inspiring fear in their citizens. anydody (dis)agree? |

by the way, the alternative live lyric Come waste your millions here Secretly she sneers Just like a virgin blows, A guilty conscience grows is so much better. racier and edgier maybe, but the sense of guilt is so much better portrayed. |

i think that 'she' is the personification of famedom/ fortune/ lust, etc, etc. greed. and 'i' is a person who has given into her. Come waste your millions here Secretly she sneers Another corporate show, A guilty conscience grows -about any number of things, a casino, callgirl, etc. the guilty conscience could be either her or the singer And I'll feel a guilty conscience grow And I'll feel a guilty conscience grow She burns like the sun and I can't look away And she'll burn our horizons make no mistakes -i think that in this case, burning means that she is so incredibly attractive, and attention - grabbing, but also in incredible pain, and burning out, in that it will be the death of her. horizons, is, as has been said, the future of the speaker, and those who are drawn in by her, in giving in, your life/future will be ruined. Come let the truth be shared No one ever dared To break these endless lies Secretly she cries -the lies could represent many things, but since bellamy is a big conspiracy theorist, i think that its possibly about the wife of some famous world leader who does wrong by his people for selfish reasons She burns like the sun And I can't look away And she'll burn our horizons Make no mistakes And I'll hide from the world Behind a broken frame And I'll run forever I can't face the shame once again, i cant figure out 'frame' either... his persona? alternatively, about a girl who has been forsaken. could be both? |

I woke up with the power out Not really something to shout about Ice has covered up my parents' hands Don't have any dreams, don't have any plans i think that 'woke up' = was born The ice covering his parents hands means that they are dead, and have been, at least in their role as parents Don't have any dreams, dont have any plans means that he has resigned to the inexorable reality of becoming his parents, and dying inside, or maybe was never even taught to dream I went out into the night I went out to find some light Kids are swinging from the power lines Nobody's home, so nobody minds since light seems to be a metaphor for emotion, he's trying to find any sign of emotion/passion/humanity i think im missing something with the kids are swinging from the power lines lyric, i can only think of it saying that they are alone in the world, and nobody cares I woke up on the darkest night Neighbors all were shouting that they found the light ("We found the light!") Shadows jumping all over my walls Some of them big, some of them small =i was born in the darkest time, but people found the light (emotion/virtue), i think that the shadows are possibly the problems? I went out into the night I went out to pick a fight with anyone Light a candle for the kids Jesus Christ, don't keep it hid! I think that this means that he went out into the night means that he went out into the passive, unemotional world to try to find passion, and that the 'light a candle...' means that people refuse to show any emotion Ice has covered up my parents' hands Don't have any dreams, don't have any plans Growing up in some strange storm Nobody's cold, nobody's warm I think that the strange storm is a metaphor for all of the problems and turmoil, and strange in the sense that nobody seems to care (nobody's cold, nobody's warm) I went out into the night I went out to find some light Kids are dying out in the snow Look at them go, look at them go! i think that this means that kids are dying inside and turning into the passive carcasses of their parents And the power's out in the heart of man Take it from your heart, put in your hand I think that sunshine nailed it here-men have the power to change things, but wont make a serious effort to do so What's the plan? What's the plan? just an expression of angst/worry over inheriting a world which is decided and unchangeable Is it a dream? Is it a lie? I think I'll let you decide Just light a candle for the kids Jesus Christ, don't keep it hid! i think that is it a dream/lie is asking if its all in the 'kids' collective head Because nothing's hid, from us kids! You ain't fooling nobody with the lights out! i think that maybe 'fooling' people with the lights out means that the older generations are hiding their failures, insecurities, and emotions, by hiding them under indifference And the power's out in the heart of man Take it from your heart, put in your hand And there's something wrong in the heart of man You take it from your heart and put it in your hand! just what i think... |

passing by you light up my darkest skies i think that whoever it was that said that this is about the person bringing about bellamy's darkest traits/qualities is right, she brings out the worst in him, and also that this is hinting that the girl is so wonderful that she lights up even the darkest of skies you'll take only seconds to draw me in 'draw me in' implies action, that the person intentionally drew him in so be mine and your innocence i will consume in possessing and knowing whatever quality the girl has which makes bellamy giddy, he destroys it, he can never truly possess her innocence without destroying it, at least in his mind dark shines bringing me down making my heart feel sore i think that this is about bellamy possessing/taking the girls innocence, and yet lamenting it at the same time because it's good not sure what he means by this... maybe hes ashamed of himself for enjoying taking the girls innocence hold your hands up to your eyes again hide from the scary scenes, suppress your fears so be mine and your innocence i will consume i think that this verse is about the girl coming to dislike bellamy, and his 'darkest skies' which she brings out in him dark shines i think that dark shines is about the metaphorical light which lights up bellamy's darkest skies, which is saying that while he loves this girl, he is at his worst around her bringing me down making my heart feel sore because it's good you're dark shines bringing me down making my heart feel sore because it's good overall i think that this song is about a girl which bellamy can never truly have/possess, because he sees her as being so amazing that disappointment is inevitable. Also, her innocence is what draws him in, and she will never be truly innocent in his mind while he has a relationship with her. On top of that, she brings out his worst traits, so he makes her afraid of him, and maybe she leaves him, so thats why hes 'sore'... maybe not. in a grander sense, this song is about seeing/wanting something which you can never have, or, worse, having it, and in doing so, destroying its beauty, which you find out never existed. |

| i think that this song is about the pretentious life that stars lead, and how they live somebody elses life, and everything is planned out, and they just break. | |

i think that this song can be interpreted in two ways, either as people constantly wanting bellamy to say what hes thinking and almost trying to trip him up on it, but i think that it makes more sense in a sense like 1984 or anthem or something. break me in, teach us to cheat and to lie, cover up what shouldn't be shared? all the truth's unwinding scraping away at my mind please stop asking me to describe i think that 'what shouldnt be shared' is about communism, and that this stanza is about the lies governments tell to their people in attempts of self-preservation. it could also be interpreted as being about constant questioning, and how people need others to have strong defined opinions, they cant be open-minded or questioning. for one moment i wish you'd hold your stage with no feelings at all open minded i'm sure i used to be so free i think that this reinforces the idea that people always feel that they and others have to have an opinion about everything, they cant truly consider something self-expressed, exhausting for all to see and to be what you want and what you need the truth's unwinding scraping away at my mind please stop asking me to describe i think that this is about fighting the realization of a dystopia, as in 1984 or anthem, and the exhaustion and horrible feelings that such a realization would bring. alternatively, this could be about realizing, or fighting the realization that one of your strong-held beliefs which you were vocal about, because you were forced to be, is wrong. for one moment i wish you'd hold your stage with no feelings at all open minded i'm sure i used to be so free for one moment i wish you'd hold your stage with no feelings at all open minded i'm sure i used to be so free wash me away clean your body of me erase all the memories they will only bring us pain and i've seen, all i'll ever need that verse is the clincher for me, which makes me sure that it is a song about a communist reign which bellamy seems to be sure is impending (see exo-politics), and the oppression of new ideas and radicals. |

| i think that this song is in the first bit from a 3rd person point of view, and in the second bit from the woman's perspective. i think its about a woman who has an affair to gain attention, but when her husband/boyfriend didnt care enough to notice, she left. | |

i think youre right with H8 keeping him alive, and also that hes hinting at the word hate, but i think that H8 is a metaphor for a person who he feels he cant live without You make me sick Because I adore you so I love all the dirty tricks And twisted games you play On me I think that this phrase is about the computer tricking him into thinking its a person, which is ironic in that its a metaphor for a person as cold as a computer... Space dementia in your eyes and Peace will arise And tear us apart And make us meaningless again i think that this is about equilibrium, and dust to dust, and that while equilibrium is a peaceful force, it takes life violently, and that each life is meaningless in the grand scheme of the universe Mmmm, yeah You'll make us wanna die I'd cut your name in my heart We'll destroy this world for you I know you want me to Feel your pain I think that this part is possibly about the reason the person is toying and torturing him is that he/she wants him to feel as bad as they do Space dementia in your eyes and Venus will arise And tear us apart And make us meaningless again i think that venus is used as the roman goddess of lust/love, and means that his longing for the person makes him meaningless. just what i think... |
