Future Islands – Balance Lyrics 14 years ago
This is what happens when people don't wait for the album versions to come out. Now they will most likely not be fixed, even if they are mostly accurate.

My Latest Novel – Lacklustre Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song could be about the experimental British author Ann Quin, who apparently committed suicide by drowning herself during the night. You can read up on her, but her work often included sea motifs.

"Minor key to major key,
rises at the end like the wild roses grow."
This lyric could be a representation of a life finally realized (in her eyes), from the fantasies of her work to the enacting of her words, that may have given her a sense of self at the very end of life.

Either way, it's yet another beautifully sad song of the band's.

And I have no idea if this lyric is correct, by the way, but I interpreted it based on Ann:
"To wash your tops in the moat today"

Joanna Newsom – You and Me, Bess Lyrics 16 years ago
Fixed with your suggestions and better formatting. I was simply surprised nobody else had posted them, because this is easily one of my favorites off the new album.

I fixed it to your interpretation, but that lyric still troubles me.

jj – My Love Lyrics 16 years ago
This song's vocals remind me of a peppy Victoria LeGrand from Beach House, which is obviously a great thing.

"Next time you see me,
you better stand in line." I figure the ellipsis means you were unsure of what was said there.

jj – From Africa to Málaga Lyrics 16 years ago
In the last verse, the line is "I know it's you, I hope it's you." And the final repeated line should be
"I'll bless the rains and winds coming in from Africa to Málaga."

There's two other lines missing, but I gather they are because it's difficult to hear them.

Anyway, I love this song.

Asobi Seksu – Breathe into Glass Lyrics 16 years ago
Great B-side. The lyrics are a lot clearer in the acoustic version of this song. Some changes:

In the first verse, it is "panic like a little child." The missing line, I believe, is "strands of hope come whispering."

And the chorus is actually

Re-arrange stars
Using sunlight from our smiles
Breathe into Glass
Run to my side
Dripping signs of life.

Antony and the Johnsons – Another World Lyrics 17 years ago
I never thought about it that way, but that makes total sense to me now. Previously, I saw this as a sort of "green anthem" song... like, look what we're doing to this beautiful world. He's longing for people to wake up to that beauty and take responsibility for their actions, otherwise it'll be too late. Maybe it's because of my environmentalism background.

On a different note, I'm pretty sure the lyrics are "I'm gonna miss the bees" not "beach." As far as pairings go, bees pollenate and make things grow. Without bees, the human race could only last a short number of years (although I imagine we would find a way to survive). So they'd surely be missed.
