| I have to agree with JustPlainNJ. It's about Aaron giving up his will to God and letting Him control his life now. It's beautiful. | |
| Pedro the Lion – Letter from a Concerned Follower Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think the general comments from here are correct. A sarcastic yet worried tone goes through this song about David's faith in God, as well as man's in general. I think his lyrics are amazing. It's too bad he fell away from the God he loved so much at some point. He truly had a gift to express his concerns and joy over his faith. I will miss this! |

| I think you've got the right basic interpretation. I might go more in-depth in some parts, but I agree with this meaning. | |
| Sunset Rubdown – Shut Up I Am Dreaming of Places Where Lovers Have Wings (Daytrotter Session Version) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

My favorite song ever. This song is so full of passion, odd lyrics, beautiful lyrics... The way the song builds up and expresses emotion. I especially love the daytrotter version with the piano. The first time I heard it, I was like, "This is perfect!!!" I didn't think it was possible to make the song even better, but they managed it. |

I love this song. I especially love the lyrics: You know I want to be like Jesus But it seems to very far way And when will I learn to obey, obey... We struggle constantly as Christians, and Bazan has such a talent to bring all those struggles into his lyrics. It's too bad that he became overwhelmed with them. |

| Pedro the Lion – Almost There Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this is in the top three of my favorite Pedro the Lion songs. David Bazan has such a way of expressing the angst of being a Christian and how we constantly struggle with our faith and the goal of that faith. "Almost There" is a song, in my own interpretation, about how he/I struggle with the standard that our Lord has given us to live by. As we continually grow to be a Christian as the Bible set us out to be, we are constantly reminded of our human flaws. Whenever I think I've reached a point in my life where I am content with the way I live, I realize that there's still so much I need to do to be as my God wants me to be... I'm "Almost there.. it's on the tip of my tongue, and it never goes away.." It's such a beautiful expression of my angst. I love the emotion in the song from the backup singer. I'm also really sad to hear that Bazan has declared himself an agnostic. If only he would listen to his own lyrics and realize it's a struggle we all go through. |
