Hallo, songs from Portishead are for me beautiful but sound emotionally sad. Lyrics, like this one, are telling stories about fear, hurting, struggle in one´s mind.Actually about human (self)development through, well, pain of experiences. At the beginning, although i liked very much the music performance as an whole art-act of them (waking very special feelings), I underestimated their lyrics as dramatic inside out ohh, ahh, how sad is all, how unhappy I am...uff In their lyrics though, shine thru message. I understand, they try to bring us further, for they touch a certain situation and build a portrait of the atmosphere around, to wake, to get outside feelings, which are already inside us, so that we can face them and with wise help of Portishead deal with them. To the lyrics above, as I understand. The woman want to leave, if the man will not commit to a relationship. She is telling him, they can make their own paradise of it, and it doesn`t matter, how the others see it and what they think is right. She wants him to put more effort, because she thinks that it stared nicely and she likes him. She ask to overcome the pride, and single mind (ego?), which are main obstacles for relatioships,and to come back to her... |

Well, I think its his current attitude towards women, and I met this kind of man, early hurt and eventually using women like tool, even worser...People, please don`t hurt each others hearts! You hurt someone today, and thats why whe/she will do it to someone else later, and so on and it will come back to you one day...Treat eachother with respect even if you split, shit! I was thinking very long what should I do when I am meeting such hard, cold boys... They will not learn love, if you women and man don`t respect yourself at first and not allow yourselves to be treaten by anybody like in text. But, don`t leave them alone in their-dark-head-world, but be true friends, especially if its freindship between woman and man, without sex, learning respect for eachother , again.. And... I am not a fucking christ...ok? I just have seen too much of it and had to find my way in that world Greetings |

By this freedom of expression here, especially by comments of Radiohead lyrics He sounds like a friend who help a friend to get over a broken relationship. He wants her to understand, that the men she is having sex with will not come back and have a relationship with her. He himself couldn’t imagine be with her, they are all the cool-men generation. This is the bitter truth she should know for to get the best of the situation given: to have her fun and duell the next one not having expectations. Her broken heart shouldn’t be a reason not to take him now instead, even if or because it is clear from the beginning that he disappear next day He is encouraging her to finish her passion story, not to take so serious the heart stuff and get more of it : ) |
