Motion City Soundtrack – Broken Heart Lyrics 16 years ago
I can really identify to this song. I see it as being about someone who's been burned by relationships a lot in the past-- always getting their hopes up, never seeming to be able to find a relationship that works out and keeps them happy. They promise themself that they won't get caught up in things like that again, yet they keep getting swept away in the fantasies and promises; essentially, they follow the call of the sirens though they were told not to. It's a hard cycle, and it just ends in pain.

Kansas – Carry on Wayward Son Lyrics 17 years ago
This song reminds me of the story of the prodigal son (sorry if this has already been posted, I haven't read through the entire discussion)
The wayward son would be the prodigal son
"Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high" This would refer to hubris, the son's excessive confidence and blindness to the reality of his situation.
"Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know" He's just a foolish boy, running around with his money, getting himself into a hole that he can't see himself falling into
"On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune" He's overcome by his sudden wealth and affluence, goes out and gets himself in over his head
"But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
They'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more" He's always welcome back at home, though he went wayward, his family has confidence in him and knows that he will be fine in the end.

Relient K – Where Do I Go From Here Lyrics 17 years ago
This song actually makes me think of clinical depression.

"Where do I go from here if not dissappear?" I see that as a reference to running away (obviously "Leaving, may not be coming home" goes with this also) or even suicide
"I'm dealing with what I can't control." Feelings of desperation over not being able to cope with life
"Feeling confused because I don't know if healing is when you don't feel a thing." Feelings of blankness, or experiencing emotions that contradict the mood or situation surrounding you

Whatever it's about, I love this song, just like Relient K's other songs. Some of their newer releases, from The Birds and the Bee Sides, have a slightly darker edge to them, but I'm glad to see that RK can sing about more serious, personal matters than Chapstick (not to say I don't love that song!) while still making their songs fun and enjoyable to listen to.

Kelly Clarkson – My Life Would Suck Without You Lyrics 17 years ago
I've always been a fan of Kelly Clarkson-- she's not my absolute favorite, but I've always enjoyed her music. In a way, I even looked up to her when she went her own way for her album "My December." It wasn't the greatest CD of all time, no, but it's what it represetned that mattered, and I found that most of the songs grew on me over time. This song, though, is extremely dissapointing. It's sad to see her reverting to the mass-market, 3-minute-30-second time range bubble gum pop (crap, in my opinion) that the radio is playing so often. I hope this song isn't a representation of what her upcoming album will be.
