Radiohead – 2 + 2 = 5 (The Lukewarm) Lyrics 17 years ago
After the release of Amnesiac, Radiohead fans were getting uncomfortable because they missed the "old" radiohead" and thought the "new" Radiohead was too electronic. So, at the beginning of this song, when the first song is the plugging in of a guitar, it's like they're saying "we're back!"

Best Radiohead album (in my opnion). My favorites off this album are: 2+2=5, sit down stand up, go to sleep, we suck young blood, There, there, and awolf at the door. Radiohead is one of those classic bands that have influenced rock in general.

Radiohead – There There. (The Boney King of Nowhere.) Lyrics 17 years ago
The mythological allusion and reference in this song is talking about the sirens. In Greek mythology, the Sirens are some of the monsters that Odysseus must face in his quest to get home. Odysseus’s men rape a maiden of Athena’s (she is a virgin, so this is particularly insulting), so Athena makes it hard for him to get home to punish him and his men, involving obstacles and monsters. The Sirens are women that were turned into birds by Demeter for not helping her search for her daughter enough and are then turned into fish by the Muses (Apollo’s retinue) for losing a singing contest. They sit on rocks and lure men to them with singing whatever arouses them the most, then kill and eat the men. This song is about a girl that just uses men for pleasure, then disregards them (There’s always a siren, singing you to shipwreck). The singer is telling us to steer clear of these people (Steer away from these rocks, we’d be a walking disaster), and just because they are interested for you in a lustful way doesn’t mean there is any love involved (Just because you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there).

Franz Ferdinand – Ulysses Lyrics 17 years ago
It's "while I sit in here a sentimental face stares", not "Well I'm sitting here, sentimental footsteps"
"and A voice says hi, so" not "Then a voice say hi so", "so, so what you gotta, what you gotta disdain", not "So what you got, what you got this time?", "Come on look so, you got next, oh, walk twenty-five miles, oh" not "Come on lickso You got Nick stoned Walking planet by miles", "come on doll and use me", not "Come on don't amuse me", "that heart that grew cold", not "That hot blood grew cold".

This song is also alluding to and referencing Odysseus (Ulysses is the Roman name). After traveling for some time on his way back, he comes across his first obstacle: the lotus plants. He stops at an island and sends some scouts to investigate. The men see the locals eating a lotus plant and start eating it too. Soon, they forget who they were, what they were doing, and became addicted to the plant. They try to convince Odysseus to eat the plant, but he sees what it is doing to him, and refuses. He drags the men, kicking and screaming back onto the boat so they can continue the journey. The song is about doing things that are illegal and unhealthy (like drugs) and then having to deal with the problems that arise afterward. The singer states that, hey, I’ve been busy and stressed out, I deserve a little fun like the men with Odysseus, I mean, all my friends are getting high. However, it comes back to bite him because he realizes that if he was Odysseus he would never had been able to bring his friends back because he is as lost as they are now.

Actually, I heard from a Yorke interview that this song is about how desperate showbiz is to have youth.

Keane – Wolf at the Door Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about trying to overcome a vice that is threatening your well being, but not having enough will power to over come it.

Don't insult Radiohead, Keane is a sissy band.

Is it me, or does this song sound a lot like Black Swan from Thom Yorke's solo album?

Muse – Butterflies and Hurricanes Lyrics 17 years ago
Muse makes all other bands look bad! :) Matt is so talented at lyrics, vocals, guitar and piano, it is astounding! I love how the music reflects the chaos theroy aspect of the lyrics: It's starts small and simple, then explodes into this musical masterpiece.

Radiohead – Arpeggi Lyrics 17 years ago
I love how the music sounds so much like water, but at different stages. Like at the begin, placid and calm, then transforms into rushing and busy.

Radiohead – Blow Out Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about unintentional emotional unattachment, The person wishes they could feel more about things, but they have a curse, Midas Touch (Everything I touch turns to stone), and is so depressed they think they are going to "blow out".
