You're bang on. That line hit me as well, twenty-odd years ago, hearing it for the first time. The song's really about self-loathing, hidden beneath a macho stereotype. Bruce's voice in the song tells the story, really. This is not about racing, it's about keeping the lie that is your life alive. What a storyteller, eh. He hits me on so many levels. |

That's right my brother. In these songs is the very essence of adolescence, of growing up, of young frustration. Quite simply, genius. Even after 25 years, I never grow tired of his lyrics. There's eternal truth in there. Bruce for president. |

It's quite easy, I think. The song deals with relationships and the emotional temptations that come between ourselves and our lover, which can drive us apart. A wonderful song which brings tears to my eyes every time. |
