| Alanis Morissette – Your House Lyrics

alanis has said that this is the only song that is not 100% true. It is about her staying alone at some guy's house for a week. She had a crush on him. So when he went away, she started going through his stuff, sleeping in his bed etc. In the end she gets burned, which is what she imagines would have happened if she snooped any further. |

i completely agree that the lyric, "Life has a funny way of helping you out," is the most important part of the song. Every experience in life is important whether it is good or bad because you learn something from it and ultimately sometimes you have on control over what happens to you. |

the 1st verse is about her at age 10, 2nd verse her in her mid-teens and last verse after the jagged little pill tour. this is what alanis said. |

the reason alanis does not say what we are is because NO physical thing can define you. if you look toward things to define yourself, you only create suffering for yourself. |

alanis said this song is about falling in love with someone who is so unapologetically himself all time. the who idea that this guy freestyles just shows that the guy does his own thing and not conforming and this is what she loves about it. |

| Alanis Morissette – Superstar Wonderful Weirdos Lyrics

such cheesy lyrics, when you consider it is ALANIS who wrote this. It's obvious why this song didn't make it on jagged little pill. However it has a good message about accepting your "weirdness". |

alanis said this song is about people in her life who could not control their anger/rage. from the end you gather that these people were important to her and that's why it affected her so much. |

| Alanis Morissette – Fake Plastic Trees (Radiohead cover) Lyrics

i actually enjoy alanis' version. radiohead should and i'm sure that they do feel honoured that the queen of alternative covered their song, after all they were her opening act once upon a time. i love both alanis and radiohead. i know radiohead fans think radiohead is like the shit with no one coming close to them but let's see them try to cover an alanis song... now that they could never pull off. |

alanis has said the song is a stream of consciousness about 3 different experiences. so she looks back at these experiences and enjoys it (hence the popcorn). |

Does anyone actually have this song? i don't know a single alanis fan that has ever heard this song! and those lyrics seem fake. this song is a jagged little pill demo and alanis didn't write such bad lyrics then... |

| Alanis Morissette – No Pressure Over Cappuccino Lyrics

yeah she said it's inspired by her brother. I think it's perhaps about her brother coming out to her over cappuccino. And while they are sitting and talking, there is no pressure. They just feel free to talk about anything. |

there's a video on youtube where alanis says the song is written about her friend who was going through issues, and indirectly she sings the song to herself as well. so to me the song is just about the issues we all go through, especially women and many gay guys (if you know alanis' fans you know that 99% of her male fans are gay, including me) |

I'm a fan of kelly. She has a phenomenal voice. But this song is one of the worst songs I have ever heard in my life. This song needs no interpretation. A 3 year old could have written those lyrics. |

at first this song was my least favourite song on jagged little pill but once i fully grasped this song, i realised how beautiful it is. i think this song is about anybody feeling unworthy, with self-image problems and going through a difficult time. but this song and many other songs can mean whatever to the listener. alanis write something like, "may your own unique interpretations of these songs hold you with tenderness," in the flavors of entanglement thank you notes. |

such a great great great song!!!!!!!! cookieman said it best. nothing to add. just wanna say, this is one of those songs you can relate to just about anything in your life. i love screaming along to this song, especially the last verse. it's so comforting. |

| Alanis Morissette – Ironic Lyrics

i just don't care if this song is actually ironic or not. some say it's ironic that a song called ironic contains no irony. so that means there is actually irony in the song. but the irony was that there is NO irony... so it's actually not ironic. and so on and so on. you can never come to a conclusion about the irony at all.
but there is a beautiful message in the song if you look past the irony. |

| Alanis Morissette – Hand In My Pocket Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
this song has such freaking amazing lyrics. to me this song is about being affected but still moving on.
the one hand in her pocket represents the part of her affected by all of life's problems and the other represents the part of that goes on with life. the most important hand is the hand outside her pocket (the part that finds enough courage to go on despite your situation). SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE |

| Alanis Morissette – I Was Hoping Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
THIS IS WHAT ALANIS SAID ABOUT THE SONG:
"the choruses in this song are about my having been excited with the newly discovered opportunity that i saw--the relationship i was in--and what it was providing for the both of us. i had never understood the healing quality of safety and intimacy, or the consciousness that was required of me to be in that kind of relationship until that point. the verses are my recounting three separate conversations/experiences."
I LOVE LOVE THIS SONG AND THE ALBUM(SFIJ)
