While this might be about the Simpsons and child actors, I have always gotten something else from the song. I always just see it as a man who can never be satisfied. He starts out in a rather low part of his life and ends up with everything he has ever asked for, yet he fails to be happy with his life. He asks God for many things throughout the song, and has received them all. However, he is always asking for more and ignores the good that just came into his life and by the end he sees he is convinced God never listens and then looses his faith and asks if he's the antichrist. I don't know, I guess that's kind of the same thing as the Simpsons but I just always figured they use them, but it can talk about anyone who always asks for more. =] |
