---The bridge expresses her own frustrations, and perhaps all of mankind's when it comes to love and significance. She's dying to understand love, and the person whom she seeks it from. the "tell me is it my fault" line could be refering to something very specific and personal to her. In the context of the song, it seems to be about lost love or a failed relationship. She says "I care about you more than anyone else" so she may be questioning herself, and thinking 'maybe it's just me' because she knows she loves this person, but maybe she herself is not lovable. this part of the song could maybe even go further to questioning her purpose or meaning. So, all in all, the songs about all the things people don't understand or can't seem to get a grasp on. |

This song is referencing to all the things we as mankind never seem to understand. We come up with explanations of things to try and explain what we don't know, but really things are not always we we perceive- "Things are not always how they seem" The song points out that we don't know it all and I think it even expresses some of her own frustrations, as well as the frustrations many people feel when it comes to understanding. There are references to the earth actually being round even though we thought it was flat, and the sky actually being billions of galaxies rather than little points of heaven in the sky. the second verse can be interpreted a few ways i think. it refers to the hopes and dreams we all have and how life is so short ("the interim of life"), so we pin everything we do on these dreams we hope to one day acheive. it could also be about how in this temporary life we are seemingly wasting it away by pinning everything we do on the "top dog of dreams" which may be a reference to God himself, or the hope of eternal life in heaven. This song seems to have relgious undertones throughout it, and that fits with the theme of expressing humanity's frustration and lack of understanding.--- |

people are discussing the part of the song that talks about the little boy outside crying "because it's his turn but his brother won't let him try".... well, to me this whole song is almost about forgetting where you've come from. forgetting something that should be so familiar to you. forgetting your past and what it took to get where you are now. the journey. the person "deciding whether or not to steal" and then the boy outside crying because it's his turn and the brother isn't letting him try....Regina never actually says what the brother isn't letting the other brother do. basically, i think that lyrics are saying that we should all be in this together, we're "brothers" but instead we're all trying to make it for ourselves and pushing people out of the way that are also only trying to get by in life. we're deciding "whether or not to steal" and the little boy is crying because he's not getting his turn. he's not getting the opportunity that the other brother has gotten, and for us all it is so easy for us to push our way through life and "steal" the opportunity, but if we stop and listen or more so, stop and look we can see that there are people everywhere that deserve an opportunity. that's my take on it |

she's not a lesbian and this is not a queer song. i'm not sure why some people are jumping to that conclusion. first off, she's speaking metephorically, and second, regina isn't known to be an autobiographical lyricist. she writes from the perspective of different characters. |

i agree with toblerone00 it's INCREDIBLE live!! and how she includes the loop pedal in the part where she repeats "the beauty of uncertainty" when she performed it at the gig i was at she started the song alone on stage and while she was looping and layering her voice to build and build the band came on stage and the suspense was amazing and then BAM this huge explosion of a masterpiece of a song!! |

Dude, in the music video those aren't plastic surgery tools, those are totally pieces of her guitar. in the end they all fit together and so she plays it for the last chorus instead of just walking around singing. the term "saving my face" in this song i think has two different meanings. the first meaning would be obviously the one she stated in an interview about how all these older woman are freaking out because they're aging and they're also losing their memory, but they're more concerned with "saving their face" but i think the other more deep meaning comes from the term of "saving face" or not wanting to do anything embarrassing or something that will damage your pride or reputation. the whole first verse kind of seems to talk about how she is sick of the same old same old, but she's stalling maybe because she's afraid to let go and move on. "i'm all out of luck, i'm all out of faith- I would give everything just for a taste" everything's screwed up so it seems like there's no hope, but she would give anything just to taste that hope "but everything's here, all out of place" everything's messed up and not at all how she wants it "losing my memory, but saving my face" possibly that she's letting go of something in the past and saving her reputation or herself even...maybe by letting go, she's saving herself...i don't know that's just my interpretation of it. |
