I was just at a Sonata Arctica concert, and Tony said that this song was basically about people who were able to be leaders, and how the world is starting to lack so many strong people. (paraphrasing, of course). |

This song IS about writers block. However, I think it's more specifically about writer's block caused by too many things going on in the writer's mind. They're clouding his mind too much and he can't just write down what he's thinking because he's thinking about so many things. He starts writing one thing, then that thought is gone and he can't finish it (which is basically what writer's block is all about anyway).
Love this song, and the new album. Kudos to DT. |

I think this song is about being ridiculed, to the point of taking it much too personally for their own good. Kind of like saying "you want me your way? here." and then this song was written. |

I think it's about the world we live in today, and how we are slowly losing our morals and things we care about. The new generations that are born and such are going to be born into a relatively unhealthy environment, and it's only going to get worse. |

I agree with the suicide take on this song. it was my first thought as well.
And as for the TOT argument here, there isn't a song on that album I dislike. There are very few DT songs that I don't like. You can't expect a band to only have 1 style, and I think they should be commended for branching out.
DT forever. |

Although I knew, when I listened to this song, about the whole history with KM, I never had the thought that this song was about him leaving the band. It doesn't seem to fit the lyrics. I have a feeling this song was actually about a past relationship of his. |

I had always thought it was about somebody having a close friend or relative in a coma, and that person is fading away...much like what psychomonkey62 described. |

None of the songs on SDOIT besides Glass Prison are about the people who wrote them, and that includes this one. At least, in my opinion. This is simply a song about death and trying to move on from it.
But anyway, beautiful song. One of the very first ever to make me cry. |

I agree with Sietsev for the most part, but I think that the two people can already talk deeply. The friend can "turn away" from all the deep conversations and leave the "trapped" person by himself. Just because they use the word "you" doesn't mean it has to be a girl; it could simply be two friends. |
