I absolutely adore this song... well, I absolutely adore Sarah McLachlan. Her music to me is absolute therapy, like a journal unfolding. This song is very personal to me. I've lived this song. Down to every word. To me (on a personal level) it is about a girl that is in love with a man... a man that is unfair with his demands as to how this woman he loves should be (expectations). She's wondering... because she's done everything she can to love him and make him see...she begins to lose herself. So while she would love to continue to try to help him, she can't... because it is draining her, making her forget herself in trying to save him... from something that he is not trying hard enough to save himself from in which he is bringing her down with him. It's an amazing song. It helped me through an extremely tough time... helped to remind me of what I needed to do in my situation... to save myself. |
