to me this song is about a past drug-addiction. the line "my only consolation is all lies" represents how easy it is to use drugs as an escape when actually you only push your problems ahead of you and making them grow bigger. "I missed my window years ago" meaning saying no to drugs in first place. "I won't become your hero just to fight the life I saved" while seeing drugs as a solution, life is still more important even though drugs would be the easier way. and finally "I won't give up tomorrow just to lose it all today" meaning that eventhough the drugs feels like an escape from this world there is no real future when drugs are involved. |

the entire song can be connected to bram stoker's dracula. to me it feels like it's been written from count dracula's point of view. as in "and with those once cold finger tips you bought me back to life" where I think he means that when he finds mina who is a "resurrected" elizabeth he feels just this. but at the same time he knows that this can not be since he is undead and wants to die more than anything. in the end he gets just this when mina decides to give herself to him due to "and soon we'll sleep and never wake up again". |

it is "a pound of flesh and a touch of bone" since there, for one reason can't be two sentences after one another ending with alone. and the "a pound of..." works better.
apart from that, this song is brilliant! I love it! |
