| Muse – The 2nd Law: Unsustainable Lyrics

I don't think the song is about the Earth, because the Earth is not an isolated system. I think this song is about the universe, which is an isolated system. The song is about how the universe, like all things, is destined to die.
I appreciate the genuis of this song, but I actually find it a bit too depressing to really listen to. |

To me the verses are kinda pointless. But the verse is trying to point something out. Something really important that would be awesome if the world knew.
Fighting, whether with guns, fists or words, is useless. If you try to fight a war the war will win. There are other ways to say this:
-What you fight you strengthen and what you resist persists.
-If you're changing the world, but you're pissed off, you're doing it wrong.
-Seeing others as the enemy is stupid. Avoid competing and work together instead. |

To me, all Sigor Ros' songs pretty much mean the same thing, but it's the right same thing.
It's supposed to be an upgraded kind of "living in the moment." Basically dying and being reborn every second. When I listen to Sigur Ros, it gets me into the same state of mind I get into during a successful meditation.
Of course, they're trying to point to something that can't be explained in words, that's why they don't use lyrics. Any explanation I can through words give will be mediocre at best. |

Arguing on the internet about something as ambiguous as words such as "faith" and "belief" isn't going to get us anywhere. We're all going to have different ideas about such words and that's not going to change.
Frankly, I think the vast majority of conflict in the word is caused by a failure to communicate. |

I'm hearing that it's about addiction to cocaine. I suppose that's probably the intended meaning.
But to me it's about addiction to thinking, about how the person's mind takes over the real person underneath. It's because I've been reading The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle that I interpret it this way. |

I dont analyise this song closely when I listen to it but to me it's a lust song. It's about wanting somebody really badly. Supermassive black hole uses extreme gravitational pull as a metaphor for extreme attraction. It's a good song to listen to when you're feeling sexy, because you can imagine somebody feeling this way about you. :) |

Sounds like the right meaning to me. I like that interpretation because it's actually meaningful.
The only problem is I totally lose respect for somebody when they tell me they're in an abusive relationship and don't have any plans to leave, which makes me feel a bit disconnected from the song if that's the true interpretation. |

It's about a romantic obsession to me, which maes you pity the guy in the song and love him. Most people cn probably relate to that at some time or another just a little bit. The thing is that, like most obsessions, the guy probably BARLEY or DOESN'T know the girl, which makes you see the justice of the situation if you look for it. But the song doesn't make you look for it, which makes it better. |

I only get the gist of the song, which to me is its a first person narration from a crazy stalker, but he's too crazy to make it make total sense. |

I know they didn't do herion, and I've never done herion, but to me it's about that. Or some other powerful drug that numbs you and makes you feel no pain, probably not halloucinogens. But it's not all sad and about the negative effects like other drug songs often are, it's just about being comfortably numb. |

I have no clue why you need to interpret this song sexually and hate rihanna so much. I don't think rihanna is any musical genius either but she has every right to have a career. |

I think it's about marrage. I mean, clearly it's about love and always being there for somebody, but I think the line, "Took an oath, I'm going to stick it out until the end" makes it clear that it's specifically about marrage.
I've heard somebody say that it's about gay love. I don't really know why they thought this song is specific to gay people, I think it could be about any two people who love each other and have agreed to stay together for life. |

When I hear this song, the message that I hear is, "I won't commit to you until we're married," so I don't like it. Because if I was dating a girl for a year and she was screwing around, I wouldn't be happy.
Still, I don't disrespect beyonce for making this song. Part of a musicain's job is to make songs that other people can relate to. Some of those people may be crazy or have relationship "issues." I certainally don't think making songs they can realate to is a sin. |

I think it's about three things. Humility, serenity, and predesdination. I don't nessesarily believe in predesdination but I still acknowladge the songs beauty. |

I think this song is about how some kind of good event has happened that will change things forever and people are going around the world telling everybody about it. Vague interpertation, but powerful nonetheless. |

My interpretation of this song is simple, that it's about pot. And slowly walking down a hall, faster than a cannonball is something that can only be done when you're high.
The exception is this:
"But you and I, We live and die.
The world's still spinning round we don't know why
Why, why why."
To me, that lyric means that we all live a temporary life on this world and we don't know what the purpose of it is. |
