I don't understand why some of you are saying "those aren't the right lyrics!!!" There are two versions of this song, and yes, they are both very different (albeit both very good). Anyway, the version that goes "but I never look back into the sun" and "burns his stomach with a cigarette" definitely sounds like it is about Peter Doherty. It seems like a direct reference to the Libertines' "Don't Look Back Into the Sun", and the second lyric, I'm not sure if this holds any water, but Peter has mentioned in numerous interviews that he's nodded off with a cigarette in his mouth and burned a hole into his tshirt...take that for what you will. |

This song is amazing...thanks for uploading the lyrics. First heard this on a Grey's Anatomy episode (I think). The band might now be called "Other Lives"...I'm still not sure why they haven't yet gained popularity, they are such an incredibly talented band. They sure are more deserving then a lot of other bands these days, like that hillbilly foursome Kings of Leon, for example. |

| ooohmmy said it best. This is definitely a song people from the area can appreciate. This is THE definitive Houston song, in my opinion. It's awesome. And neenzabeen, I know your type, you listen to rap and bag on it but really you have no reason to, Sure there are terrible rap songs, but every genre has its untalented hacks, Try to be more open-minded, man. | |
