To me this song is about a child being unwillingly subjected to prostitution. At first, she didn't understand, but now she is beginning to think it is normal: "a self-destructive mind"/"Opens up her kite to the delight of their red piercing beaks, it didn't hurt this time"/"I'm professional now" The "Hi, I'm twice coloured" part means that she leads something of a double life. Most people who know her don't know what she goes through, maybe even her family doesn't know. And even though she is growing accustomed to her life of "dark design," she still doesn't feel right about it and she knows in her heart that it's wrong: "I feel so car sick and alone." I know my interpretation is very depressing, but that's what I get out of the song. It certainly has a very nightmarish quality to it, and all in all it's really beautiful. |
