Panda Bear – I'm Not Lyrics 16 years ago
I think everyone is right about this song's topic being about fatherhood. But it's not just him saying, "I'm not ready for fatherhood, period." He's saying, "I'm scared. I'm not ready for fatherhood. I may never be ready for fatherhood." But: "No name for her, but as it comes we'll name each after its way," and "as with all else, any piece has its place and form to fill."

He may not be ready, and he may be scared, but he's not going to run away and hide from it, either. He'll take it as it comes. But he'll be honest about how he feels about it, too.

The theme pops up everywhere on this album: life is so uncertain, and it's scary, but you just have to take life as it comes, whatever it may throw at you, good and bad alike, and in the meantime, be honest about it and face it.

It could be about falling in love, too.

I agree. I hear something about "(giving up?) the conservative habits of your mind."

Band of Horses – Islands on the Coast Lyrics 17 years ago
The line is definitely: "Eyelids want to close." Quoting, now:

“That song’s kind of a metaphor for closing the door on certain things from the past and moving forward,” Bridwell explains later. “The lyric actually says ‘eyelids want to close,’ but I always thought it sounded like ‘islands on the coast,’ so I named it that to screw with people. That song deals with some things that went down before we left Seattle. I liked the metaphor of an eyelid closing. It can mean a lot of things, but I thought it worked well for talking about that.”
