This song is absolutely incredible; the dynamic shifts are so powerful! It seems to me that this is a song about a sort of dream girl, perhaps? Obviously, the passion for "Aya" is there, and it's intense, but what's all this about how she's a shadow and a killer? It seems to me that this girl is a dream girl, but she has a dark and dangerous side, too. And judging by how BRMC conduct themselves, they probably get off on that fact. |

I never understand why people get so upset when an old favorite band becomes big and popular. I can understand your frustration with the fact that it's harder to move around at a show, but shouldn't you be happy that such a great group is getting so much exposure?
I'm ecstatic that Animal Collective is getting so popular. I'd love to see more avant-garde artists blow up. We need more people pushing the envelope! |

I know right! It kicks ass, Avey seems so at ease in really off-kilter time signatures (i think this is something like 7/4).
As for what it means, i've been kicking around a few ideas. I was wondering actually if they're getting a bit existential/looking at religion with the word "sky". Maybe i'm thinking about it too much. But yeah, i definitely get a sense of some kind of seasonal depression/lost in time feeling perhaps. Sometimes you just a bit jilted with everything around you to the point where nothing's in focus, hence perhaps the line about the taxi man. |
