| listening to the vertical horizon version, it's clearly her leaving, him wanting her back, because shes the best. but when i listen to gary sing it i interpret it to be out his wife who committed suicide. beautiuflly written song which to me is about losing your best friend and love of your life and them not wanting to fight for you or to be with you. | |

these lyrics to me interpret suicide, the loss of a beautiful friend who took her(or his) own life, losing someone who just couldn't raise their voice, or speak up. Waiting for the news if she (or he) is going to live "Light up light up...i'll be right beside you dear" ...to think i might not see those eyes... Sitting through the viewing with the open casket, or being in the church or at the burial. "I'll sing it one last time for you Then we really have to go You've been the only thing that's right In all I've done...To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbye I nearly do" Beautiful BEAUTIFUL song! Could mean a couple different things, I think things weren't going well, so they went seperate ways, he told her to move on so she ended up with someone to forget about him, although she's still totally in love with and waiting for him to come back to her. However I do like the take on the video, guy she loves goes to war, dies, and she's with someone else, but feeling guilty. SAD/AWESOME video. I also might think it's a love affair, notice in the video that guy takes his ring off? Like if she's in love with someone, but there both married so he told her to move on, so hes with his wife and shes stuck with her husband??? ...Just a thought :) |

For me, it is about losing someone through death. Reminiscing about the little things that meant more than they ever thought they could, even something as little as the sunshine falling on someone's face. You know when you can just be standing under the stars, and you close your eyes, and you feel someone's heart beat, hear there laughter, and you just wish that they were standing right beside you; this song portrays that for me. Whether they passed away, or there was a horrable break up, or someone close to you just moved away. All those years and times spent together have been erased, there's no way to get them back; you can not undo what has been done in the past, you can only remember. No matter what anyone is going through you can listen to this song and always be moved. There is always someone in your life you will miss. this song can mean so many things to each individual. But in my opinion, I have to agree is has to do with pregnancy, but not necessarily abortion. He tried to help her, wanted to love her and be there for her, but her parents probably shut him out of her life. But he's still giving her choices. "Oh May Do you wanna get married, or run away? I wanna wake up where you are I won't say anything at all" He just wants to be with her, and be there for her, whatever she wants to do is okay with him, he just wants to wake up where she is. He's offering her the best he can give.
